Condolences
- Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the very sad demise of Mrs. Chinnamma Chacko, mother of our Vicar Rev. Santhosh Varughese on Sunday, September 8th in Kerala. Mrs. Chinnamma Chacko is a member of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Niranam. Funeral Service details will be provided later. May our Almighty Lord grant the family strength and comfort them with His peace.

Prayer Fellowships
- Prayer Group #4 will have a prayer meeting today, Sunday September 8th at 5:00 pm hosted by Mr. Mathew George and Family and Mr. Reji Alexander and family. The prayer meeting will be held at the church. All prayer group members are requested to join.
Youth Group
- There will be a one day fall retreat this Saturday, September 14th at 10:30 am at the church. There will be message by a guest speaker, activities and lunch will be provided. We also ask each youth to bring $5. Encourage all youths to participate
Yuvajana Sakhyam
- A 25-day prayer chain is being arranged by the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam, Diocese of North America. This prayer chain is dedicated to seeking blessings for the upcoming Diocesan Yuvajana Sakhyam Conference, praying for those who have lost their lives in the Wayanad landslides, and offering support to those who are suffering. Requesting all Yuvajana Sakhyam members to participate in this prayer chain by signing up for a time slot. Sign-up sheet is already distributed by Yuvajana Sakhyam representatives
Sevika Sanghom
- Sevika Sanghom Day will be observed on Sunday, September 15th. Theme for Sevika Sanghom Day is ‘Women: Witnesses of the gospel’. Our Sevika Sanghom members will be assisting in the worship service and a special worship order will be followed during the service. The Sevika Sanghom Day offertory collected during the service will be supporting a special project for the Vishranti Bhavan hostel. Support will also be provided to Mexico Mission, Native American Mission, and Light to Life projects, as well as providing education aid, marriage aid, housing aid to deserving families in India. Offertory envelopes are being distributed today and requesting everyone’s prayerful and wholehearted support.
A special song is being arranged for Sevika Sanghom Day and all Sevika Sanghom members are requested to join the practice session today after the service.
- Mid-West Regional Sevika Sanghom will host a prayer meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2024 @ 8:30 PM EST via Zoom. Mrs. Sheba Sara Jacob Kochamma of Chicago Mar Thoma Church, Des Plaines will deliver the message based on the theme ‘Woman of God: Walking by faith’. Requesting all Sevika Sanghom members to participate.

- Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom Mid-West Region is hosting a one day retreat on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Detroit Mar Thoma Church. Theme: Women – Witnesses of the Gospel – St. Luke 8: 1-3 and Rev. Jaisen A. Thomas, Vicar of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Lombard, Chicago will be the main speaker. Please uphold this retreat in your prayers and encouraging all Sevika Sanghom members to attend
Onam Sadhya
- Onam Sadhya scheduled for Sunday Sept 15th 2024 will be postponed. Further details will be provided later.
First Fruit Auction
- This past Sunday, we had an excellent start to our First Fruit Auction. We were able to raise over $26,000 and we humbly thank all our parish members for your generosity in bringing and bidding on items.
There will be a few final items auctioned today immediately after the service. We request everyone’s participation, so that we can conclude our First Fruit Auction smoothly and successfully.
The funds raised from the auction will primarily support the ongoing and operating expenses of the church and a portion of the funds are allocated for charity causes both locally and in India. All members are requested to wholeheartedly participate in the auction prayerfully and generously.
Executive Committee Meeting
- There will be an executive committee meeting immediately after the conclusion of the First Fruit Auction in the sanctuary. Requesting all Executive Committee members to attend
Parish Events 2024
- Parish Events for 2024 have been scheduled. The following are the event highlights for this summer and fall.

We request all parish members to mark these dates on your calendar and request everyone’s sincere participation
Refreshments
- Thanks to the refreshment committee for arranging today’s refreshments and thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin and Neethu Abraham for sponsoring
- As per our General Body decision the minimum expected contribution from each parish family is increased to \$100. All families are requested to contribute this amount and also encouraged to give more considering the increased cost of items. Thank you for your cooperation.
