Condolences

  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mrs. Sosamma Cherian (86), mother of our member Mrs. Omana Abraham on Monday, September 11th, in Kerala, India. Funeral service was held this morning.
  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mrs. Aleyamma Mathew (89), mother of our former vicar Rev. Dr. Moni Mathew, on Sunday, September 10th. Funeral service was held yesterday.May our Almighty Lord grant the families strength and comfort them with His peace.

Onam Sadhya

  • We will be having our Onam Sadhya immediately after the worship service. The coordinators are requesting everyone to please find a seat as quickly as possible once entering the hall so that the Sadhya can start. Thank you for your cooperation

Senior Fellowship

  • Monthly meeting of the Senior Fellowship will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, at 11 am at the church. Requesting all Senior Fellowship members to attend.

Sunday School

  • Midwest Region is hosting a 1-day Students Conference via Zoom on Saturday September 23rd. The conference will be led by Rev. Dennis Abraham. There will be two session based on age group:
    • 3rd – 7th Grade: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST
    • 8th – 12th Grade: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM EST

2023 Diocesan Family Retreat

  • Diocese of NAE is arranging a Family Retreat from October 6th–8th, 2023. The theme for the retreat will be: “Abundant Life: Rediscovering God’s Purpose” and will take place at the Carmel Mar Thoma Center in Atlanta, Georgia (6015 Old Stone Mountain Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30087). Distinguished speakers including Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Diocesan Bishop, Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo (Columbia Theological Seminary), Rev. Dr. Pramod Zachariah, Mrs. Susan Thomas, Dr. Cini Abraham, and Mrs. Roshin Abraham (Kochamma) will provide leadership throughout the retreat. The registration fee for the retreat will be $50.00 per person. The participation of all families is encouraged and requesting all interested families to register by this week.

Youth Group

  • There will be a parent youth meeting next Sunday, September 24th after the service. They will be going over youth group activities planned for this year and answering any questions regarding the youth group. Requesting all parents of youths to join.
  • Youth group is continuing their raffle ticket fundraiser in the fellowship hall today to raise funds for the 2023 Midwest Regional Youth Conference in December. Prizes include 2 large prize baskets and 1 free attendance to regionals this year. Raffle drawing will be held on Saturday, September 23rd. For additional information please see any youth committee member, requesting your prayers and generous support.

Yuvajana Sakhyam

  • Mid-West Regional Yuvajana Sakhyam Conference and Kalamela-2023 will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church in Chicago, IL.

Encouraging and requesting all Yuvajana Sakhyam members and families to participate in the regional conference and regional level Kalamela

Sevika Sanghom

  • Sevika Sanghom regional meeting will be held on Saturday September 30th at Chicago Mar Thoma Church from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm CST. Rev. Ajith K. Thomas, Vicar of STMTC (Lombard, IL) will be the main speaker. Transportation arrangements from Detroit to Chicago are being arranged for the regional meeting, if interested please contact Mrs. Reena Philip or Mrs. Manju Chacko as soon as possible

Edavaka Mission

  • Charities – Edavaka Mission is supporting multiple charity causes and is requesting financial support from members. The following are the charity causes:
    • Udumalpet Mission: School and Food Kits
    • Punalur Boys Home
    • Medical treatment for wife of Evg. P. Ratheesh (Habel) who is working in Narasapuram Mission Field in Andra Pradesh

    Details of each charity request are posted in the notice board. All contributions should be made to the Detroit Mar Thoma Church with details of the desired charity. Thank you in advance for your support

  • Friendly reminder to members with dues from Mar Thoma Fest and First Fruit Auction, please submit your pending contributions to the Trustees as soon as possible.

Parish Events

  • Parish Events for 2023 have been scheduled. The following are the event highlights for the rest of 2023.
    • Parish Convention – Fri. October 27th to Sun. October 29th
    • Christmas Carol Rounding – Dec. 2nd,3rd,9th, and 10th
    • Christmas Carol Service – Sat. December 23rd

We request all parish members to mark these dates on your calendar and request everyone’s sincere participation.

Refreshments

  • Thanks to the coordinators, Mr. Sandeep George and Mrs. Reena Philip and all the volunteers for arranging today’s Onam Sadhya. Special thanks to all members who prepared and/or sponsored Sadhya items and thanks to those who supported with arrangements in the fellowship hall.

We will do our very best to live stream all church events, however as this is dependent on trained volunteers there may be technical interruptions and occasions where live streaming is not available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
