Condolence


  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. K.P. Oommen (101), grandfather of our former Vicar Rev. Jogy Oommen Philip in Naranganam, Kerala on Sunday May 1st. May our Almighty Lord grant the family strength and comfort them with His peace.

General Body Notice


  • The General Body Meeting of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church will be held on Sunday, May 8th, 2022 in the sanctuary after the Holy Communion Service presided by the President and Vicar, Rev. Varghese Thomas. All General Body members are requested to attend this meeting.The agenda is as follows:
    1. Election of the new Vice President for the year 2022 due to resignation of previously elected member of the position

Worship Services


  • Next Sunday – May 8 
    • 10:15 AM – Holy Qurbana in English
    • 9 AM – Sunday School
  • All are requested to wear face mask. Those who live in the same household are requested to sit together.
  • If you have a fever, cough, high temperature or any other symptoms, please stay home

  • Please note that if you choose to send in your contribution through PayPal, please choose “Sending to Family & Friends” option. Otherwise there is a 3% fee that will be taken out of your contribution by PayPal. The church will not receive the full amount contributed.

  • Fasting prayer this Friday at 10:30 AM (via Zoom)

Sunday School


  • 2022 Diocesan Exam will be held virtually through Zoom on Sunday, May 15th
    • An orientation session on virtual exam protocols will be held today, May 1st at 4 pm through Zoom for Sunday school students and their parents.
  • Sunday School Teachers meeting will be held today, May 1st at 4:30 pm through Zoom. All teachers are requested to attend.

Sevika Sanghom


  • Next Monthly Meeting of the Sevika Sanghom to be held on May 7th at 3pm at the residence of Mrs. Saramma Varghese in Farmington Hills, MI. All Sevika Sangham members are requested to attend

Yuvajana Sakhyam


  • Yuvajana Sakhyam is hosting a Family Retreat on Saturday May 14th from 9:30am to 1:30pm at the church.Theme for the retreat is: “Faith & Life in Challenging Situations”. Mrs. Shijy Alex, member of Chicago Mar Thoma Church will be the main speaker. All families of our parish are welcome and encouraged to join the retreat.

Edavaka Mission


  • The 16th Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists’ Association Diocesan conference will be hosted by the South East Region MTVEA from August 18th through 21st in Carlisle, PA. The theme of the conference is based on Luke 10:5 “Peace builders in the Kingdom of God” and will be lead by Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa, and our own prominent clergy and lay leaders.   • Edavaka Mission is collecting donations to sponsor students from the Kompady Mar Thoma Episcopal Jubilee Institute. The institute trains evangelists to serve the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association, dioceses and many other organizations of the church. The institute has 20 students currently who are primarily from economically backward families. Rs. 50,000, approximately $654, is needed to sponsor a student per year. Our Edavaka Mission is planning to sponsor 1 or more students and is kindly requesting your prayers and generous support.

Youth Group


  • May 7th is small group weekend, small group leaders will notify of meetings and location. All small group members are requested to attend
  • Youth Group is continuing the clothing drive in partnership with National Honors Society. Requesting all youths and church members to bring any unwanted clothes for donation. Collection will continue through Sunday, May 22nd. For any questions, please contact Christina Cherian or Benjamin Mathews.
  • Youth group is planning to arrange a blood drive with the Red Cross. To finalize a date a minimum commitment of 45 potential donors is required. For those who are interested there will be survey table set up in the hall or complete the online survey: https://forms.gle/raWDAHdu7pWsLAVE8
