Condolences

  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. Sajan Varghese (56, Chackuparambil) son of late Mr. C. V. Varghese, elder brother of our members Mr. C. V. Samuel and Mr. C. V. Abraham on December 14th, 2020 in Mundathanam, Kerala.

  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mrs. Aleyamma Mathai (93 years, Plachira, Mallappally) mother of our members Mrs. Daisy Mathew, Mr. Rajan Mathew and Mrs. Nancy Philip Chacko on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Kerala.  The funeral service will be held at the Sehion Marthoma Church in Mallappally on Tuesday, December 22 at the 10 AM IST.

May the Almighty Lord strengthen and comfort the family with peace that passeth all human understanding.

Worship Services

  • Christmas Service – December 25th
  • Next Sunday – December 27th
    • Holy Qurbana Service in English at 10:15 am (Live Streaming)
    • Sunday School – morning session at 9 AM

Due to current Covid situation only 25 members are allowed to attend the worship service and partake in the Holy Qurbana.

Those who wish to attend in person, please register online and sign the waiver by Saturday morning.

Note: If you have recently participated in the Holy Communion, please give other members a chance to participate also.

Only if you get the approval email should you proceed to come for the service

Online Payments through PayPal

  • Please note that if you choose to send in your contribution through PayPal, please choose “Sending to Family & Friends” option. Otherwise there is 3% fee that will be taken out of your contribution by PayPal. The church will not receive the full amount contributed.

Online Weekly Prayers

  • Evening Prayer on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7 PM by Zoom
  • Fasting prayer this Friday is cancelled

Carol Rounding – 2020

  • This year our Carol Rounding will be held virtually via Zoom on December 20th Sunday. Only the Carolers are required to be at church. Parish members are encouraged to connect via Zoom based on the Prayer Group Schedule given below. (DO NOT COME TO CHURCH)
  • 15 minutes time slot is assigned for each prayer group.
    • Prayer Group 1: 4:00 – 4:15 pm
    • Prayer Group 2: 4:15 – 4:30 pm
    • Prayer Group 3: 4:30 – 4:45 pm
    • Prayer Group 4: 4:45 – 5:00 pm
    • Prayer Group 5&6: 5:00 – 5:15 pm
    • Prayer Group 7: 5:15 – 5:30 pm
  • If anyone is interested to join the carol rounding group, please inform the secretary.

Senior Fellowship

  • Senior Fellowship meeting scheduled for December 26th, Saturday at 6.00 pm is cancelled.

Watch Night Service

  • December 31st, Thursday
    • 9:30 PM – Witnessing Session via Zoom
    • 11:00 PM – Holy Qurbana service in English via live streaming.

Youth Group

  • Virtual Midwest Regional Youth Conference will be conducted on December 26 & 27 from 4-7 PM both days. The speaker is Jocelyn George. Registration link: https://forms.gle/J2VHJd1ABmk6UobB9

DMTC Expansion Project

  • UPDATE: Fire hydrant at the North East side of the church has been moved to the new location as per the requirement from city of Southfield. Parking lot Curb work is continuing. Brick work is also continuing and hope to finish it next week.
  • Finance Update: We still have 25 families who hasn’t pledged yet and 25 families who hasn’t send the pledged amounts. It is very important that we get the already pledged amounts as we have upcoming payments related to the construction. We request the families who hasn’t pledged yet to send in the pledge and the check. As we are getting to the final stages of the project, it is very important that all families participate in the project. The minimum amount is 750 dollars. Please be supportive and be part of this expansion work. If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact Project convener Mr. Vinod Thomas or Parish office bearers. Please continue to support the project through your prayers and generous financial support.
  • Sponsorship Form: Thank you for the great response from our families. Many of the items from the list have been sponsored. There are still more items that are available for sponsorship. We request individuals/group/Organization to sponsor some of the remaining items. Please see the attached form for details. Trustees Appeal

  • We have only 1 more Sunday to close the financial year on Dec 31st. Kindly make all the payments as early as possible. Your support is prayerfully appreciated

Ecumenical Christmas Program – 2020

  • Ecumenical Christmas program will be held on December 27th, Sunday 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm by online platform. Detroit Ecumenical Council of Kerala Churches invites all the members from all Churches and congregations to attend the 2020 Ecumenical Christmas program virtually.
