Condolences


  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mrs. Susamma Jacob (72 years old) sister of our members Mrs. Mariamma Thomas and Mr. Mammen Mathew on Saturday, Nov 28, 2020 in Flint, Michigan. May our Almighty Lord grant them strength and comfort them with His peace.

Wednesday, December 2 , 2020 (at St. Thomas Orthodox Church of India, 2850 Parent Ave, Warren, MI)

    • Morning service with Qurbana: 8:00am – 9:30am
    • Public Viewing: 9:30am – 10:30am
    • Final Service: 10:30am – 11:30am

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions only family members are allowed at the cemetery.

Holy Communion & Felicitation Meeting


Let us thank God for His grace and mercies we have been experiencing these days. In this most challenging time, we are grateful for your prayers and support to the Diocese. Let us praise God for the leadership we receive from our Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos and thank God for the manifold blessings being showered upon him throughout his life and ministry for the last 69 years. Let us also praise God for the ministry of the Most Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan who was enthroned as the XXII Mar Thoma Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church on November 14, 2020.

Our Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos is celebrating his 70th Birthday on December 5, 2020. Thirumeni will celebrate the Holy Communion in Malayalam at the Long Island Mar Thoma Church, New York on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 8:30 AM EST. Since in-person meeting is not feasible due to pandemic, a virtual meeting is arranged from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM EST to felicitate the Most Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan and our Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos.

Holy Communion Service and felicitation meeting will be live telecasted through the ‘Mar Thoma Media’ https://www.youtube.com/c/MarThomaMedia – official YouTube channel of the Diocese of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma Church. We request you to uphold Metropolitan Thirumeni and Philoxenos Thirumeni in your prayers and participate in the virtual meeting.

Election of Office Bearers for the Year 2021


The Election process for the office bearers and auditors for the year 2021 which commenced with election notification on November 15 and November 22, 2020 is completed except for one position – Account Trustee (no nomination was received for this position). The voting scheduled for December 5, 2020 is cancelled since nominations received did not exceed the number of open positions. At this time we are waiting for the election approval Kalpana from the Diocese.

Prayer Groups & Church Organizations


  • All prayer groups and church organizations are requested to elect their representatives to the executive committee on or before December 5th.

Worship Services


  • Next Sunday – December 6th
    • Divine Worship Service in Malayalam at 10:15 am (Live Streaming)
    • Sunday School – Common Session at 9 AM (via Zoom)
      • Due to current Covid situation only 25 members are allowed to attend the worship service and all are allowed to partake in the Holy Qurbana. Those who wish to attend the worship service and to partake in the Holy Qurbana at the church please register online and sign the waiver by Saturday morning.

  • Youth Group General Body meeting and monthly meeting will be held on December 6th, Sunday at 6:45 pm via Zoom. Office bearers for the year 2021 will be elected at this meeting.

Yuvajana Sakhyam


  • Yuvajana Sakhyam General Body meeting and monthly meeting will be held on December 12th, Saturday at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Office bearers for the year 2021 will be elected at this meeting.

  • Choir General Body Meeting will be held on 13th December 13th, Sunday at 5 pm via Zoom. Office bearers for the year 2021 will be elected at this meeting.

Diocesan MTVEA Prayer


  • Marthoma Voluntary Evangelist’s Association – Diocese of North America and Europe conducting Monthly Prayer Meeting via Zoom on December 7th, Monday at 8.30 pm EST. Rev. Skariah Mathew (Orlando MTC Florida, St. Mark’s MTC ,Tampa, Florida) will give the message.

DMTC Project Update


  • Integrity builders have started Parking lot construction and Brick work is continuing. Back side parking lot access will be limited and please make sure no trucks are coming out while you try to make an entrance to the Church. If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact Project convener Mr. Vinod Thomas or Parish office bearers. Please continue to support the project through your prayers and generous financial support.

    Thanks to maintenance committee convener Mr. Thomas Abraham (Joji), Mr. Ajith Varghese, Dr. Soman Philip Chacko, Mr. Boben George, Dr. Philip Soni Chacko, Mr. Justin Abraham, Mr. Gegi George, Mr. Vinod Thomas, Mr. Saju Philip, Trustees Mr. George Koshy & Mr. Shaji Thomas for their hard work to clean and trash the old items from the Church balcony, attic area and Parsonage.
