Congratulations

  • I am very happy to announce that our parish received the Best Parish Award from Diocese. Congratulations to the entire parish for getting this recognition. Best parish award is given out every year based on overall excellence in parish life. The main areas considered are
    1. Spiritual life of the Parish – regular worship, active participation and spiritual growth
    2. Effective Administration- Timely reporting, proper records and adherence to diocesan guidelines
    3. Good Financial Management
    4. Mission & Outreach – Strong engagement in evangelism, charity and community Service
    5. Best overall functioning with effective leadership, well organized events and smooth parish operations

I would like to take a moment to gratefully recognize our 2025 Executive Committee, Office Bearers, and our former Vicar, Rev. Santosh Varughese Achen, for their dedicated leadership and commitment.

Their hard work, teamwork, and careful planning made last year very well organized and spiritually enriching. It is through their collective efforts that our parish was able to achieve this honor and be recognized with the Best Parish Award.

We sincerely thank each one of them for their service, guidance, and dedication to our parish community. Award was presented during yesterdays Diocesan Assembly meeting

  • We are happy to congratulate Mr. Shawn Thomas on his selection as a Diocesan Council Member for the 2026–2029 term.

This is a proud moment for our parish and region. We pray that God will strengthen, guide, and bless him as he takes on this important responsibility. May he be empowered to serve effectively, contribute meaningfully to the Diocese, and represent our church region with excellence. Wishing him God’s abundant grace and wisdom in this new role.

Executive Committee Updates

  • We’re pleased to introduce new Wheelchair-Only Parking spots near the front entrance ramp to better serve seniors and individuals using wheelchairs.

We kindly ask everyone to respect these reserved spaces and support our efforts to improve accessibility.

Please note: Front parking spots are reserved for seniors on Sundays. If you are not a senior, kindly use other parking areas. Thank you for your cooperation.  Thanks to Trustees for making all the arrangements and installing it.

  • We have installed new lights to improve the lighting in the parish hall. Thanks to Dr.Shane Thomas for doing all the research, arrangements and installing the new lights in the celining. He also changed the bulbs of chandelier and the side lights to LED with higher Lumen. The space is much brighter now which will help Sunday school especially during the VBS and ofcourse the pickleball players. Thanks again to Shane and all those who helped

Vicar House Visit Schedule

  • Jobin Achen will be visiting Prayer Group 3 this week. Please help the prayer group leader when he is calling to request a time. We are trying to finish the entire prayer group in one week, your co-operation much appreciated. Since this is a short week as Achen is leaving to New Jersey for the assembly meeting this week, please help by accommodating the visit.

I am very happy to announce that Achen visited all homes in Prayer Group 1 and 6 in the last two weeks except few families who are out of town. We hope for the same this week also

India Mission Trip

As we have announced earlier, Diocese is arranging a Mission trip to various India Mission fields. This year, they are going to Andhra Pradesh and South Karnataka mission fields. This is specifically planned for the youths of our diocese between the ages of 18 and 35. You need to register by May 25 to be part of this Mission Trip. Please contact our Vicar Jobin Achen or the Diocese if you want to get more details.

Our parish will also bear a part of the expense if you are interested in going. Please talk to Achen or the Office bearers if you want to know more details about the support.

Church Mobile App

  • We launched the new mobile app for iOS and Android two weeks back and I hope you are able to download and use the app. If you havent done already, please do so as it has many new features that we never had before. You can now join to any scheduled zoom meeting from the app, you can watch live events, get the updated calendar, church directory, Memory versus and many other useful features to keep you in touch with church and the community including easy ways to make donations to church. So please take a moment and download the app.

This is especially easy for seniors who would like to join the weekly prayers online with much ease. If you don’t know how to download the app, please ask for assistance.

If you have any suggestions on improvements, please let us know.

Email Issues

  • If you are not receiving the church emails or weekly announcements, please send an email to the secretary at sec@detroitmarthoma.org. We will check from our side if there are any issues. You can also check your spam folder or blocked emails to see if this email is being blocked. You can also check our church website www.detroitmarthoma.org to see the weekly announcements

Refreshments

  • Thanks to the refreshment team for arranging todays refreshments. Please join the fellowship after the benediction.
  • Note from the refreshment team:
    • Refreshments will be served for 30 minutes only and the cleanup will start after. Requesting every one to join the fellowship time as soon as we finish the benediction.
    • Requesting everyone to give the one time yearly contribution for the Refreshment. The minimum required contribution is 100 dollars. If you give the amount at the beginning of the year, it will greatly help the team better plan for the year
    • We also request everyone—kids and adults alike—to please dispose of used plates, cups, and glasses in the trash cans provided. Leaving them around the parish hall creates extra work for our volunteers, who already dedicate their time to arrange the refreshments, clean up all the plates, coffee makers and other vessels used in the refreshments and make the space ready for the next event. Let’s all do our part to keep the hall clean and reduce the burden on our volunteers and office bearers. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
