General Body Notice
The General Body Meeting of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church will be held on Sunday, November 17th, 2024 in the sanctuary after the Holy Communion Service presided by the President and Vicar, Rev. Santhosh Varughese. All General Body members are requested to attend this meeting.
The agenda is as follows:
- Election of Office Bearers and Auditors for the year 2025
- Maintenance Committee – 2025
- Refreshment Committee – 2025
- Sports & Recreations Convenor – 2025
- Presentation of Expansion Project Consolidated Accounts 2018 – 2023
- Kitchen & Storage Facilities Survey Results and Recommendations
- AOB with prior permission of Chair
Note: Questions or clarifications pertaining to Expansion Project Consolidated Accounts should be sent via email or post in the attention of the Vicar/President and/or the Secretary and received on or before 4 pm (EST) Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Each member is allowed to submit a maximum of 3 questions. Parish members should be present in the General Body meeting to raise the submitted questions.

Prayer Fellowship
- Prayer group 3 will have a prayer meeting on Sunday November 10th at 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Biju and Sheena Mathews in Troy, MI (3895 Mesa Dr Troy, MI 48083). All prayer group members are requested to attend. Election of prayer group 3 representative for the year 2025 will be held during this meeting.
- Prayer group 6 will have a prayer meeting Tuesday, November 12th at 7:00 pm via Zoom. All prayer group members are requested to attend. Election of prayer group 6 representative for the year 2025 will be held during this meeting.
- Prayer group 1 will have a prayer meeting Friday, November 15th at 7:30 pm via Zoom. All prayer group members are requested to attend. Election of prayer group 1 representative for the year 2025 will be held during this meeting.
- Prayer group 2 will have a prayer meeting Saturday, November 16th at 5:00 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Eapen and Susan Chacko in South Lyon, MI (51750 Turnburry Dr. South Lyon, MI 48178). All prayer group members are requested to attend. Election of prayer group 2 representative for the year 2025 will be held during this meeting.
Sunday School
- SS Teachers meeting will be held today, November 3rd after the service. Election of 2025 office bearers will be conducted during the meeting. All SS teachers are requested to attend.
- SS practice for Christmas Carol Service program will start during general morning sessions on Sundays and also during prescheduled times for upcoming weeks. The specific practice times are posted in the fellowship hall.
- There will be a Midwest Regional Sunday School celebration for World Sunday School Day on Saturday, Nov. 9th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm EST via Zoom. There will be presentation from different Sunday Schools of the region along with messages. All SS students, teachers are encouraged to attend. - There will be a virtual Midwest Regional Sunday School Teachers Retreat on Saturday November 16th from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. Rev. Jaisen A. Thomas, Vicar of St. Thomas MTC-Lombard, is the guest speaker. All SS teachers are encouraged to attend.
Youth Group
- Next weekend, November 9th will be Small Groups weekend. Small Group leaders will communicate further detail on meeting date and time.
- Youth Group General Body will be held on Thursday, November 14th, via Zoom at 7pm. Election of 2025 positions will be held during the meeting. All youths are encouraged to join.
- Diocesan Leadership Conference hosted by our DMTC Youth Group will be held on January 2-5th, 2025. Youths who are 21 years and older and are interested in the conference are requested to complete the online registration and verification form. Links are below. Our youths are also seeking help in housing conference attendees and financial donations from members. Requesting prayers and support from church members in the planning of the DLC. - The 38th Midwest Regional Youth Conference will be hosted by St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Chicago, Youth Group. The conference will take place from December 27th-30th at Miracle Camp and Retreat Center in Lawton, MI. The theme for this year is “Unshakable Confidence,” based on Isaiah 41:10. Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Monthly meeting on Saturday November 9th at 5:30 pm at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Prasanth and Snella Mathew in Macomb, MI (21080 Strawberry Hills Dr., Macomb, MI 48044). Thanksgiving will be celebrated potluck style during the meeting. A signup sheet for potluck items will be shared separately. Election of 2025 office bearers will be held during this meeting. Seeking prayerful participation of all YS members.
- A gentle reminder to all YS members to submit their $5 Yuvajana Sakhyam membership fees at the earliest. Please reach out YS office bearers for payment and further assistance
Edavaka Mission
- MTVEA Diocese of North America will have a prayer meeting on Monday, November 4th at 8:30 pm via Zoom. Rev. T.S. John, Vicar of St. Peter’s MTC, New Jersey will give the devotional message. - Monthly meeting of Edavaka Mission will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 11 am at the church. Election of 2025 positions will be conducted during the meeting. There will be potluck style lunch after the meeting. All members are encouraged to attend.
Choir
- English Choir will have Christmas practice today, November 3rd after the worship service. All English choir members are requested to attend
- Choir General Body will be held on Sunday, November 10th after the service to elect representatives for 2025. Both English and Malayalam Choir members are kindly requested to attend the meeting.
Christmas Carol Rounding
- This year’s Christmas Carol Rounding is scheduled to start from Saturday November 30th. The carol rounding group is planning to visit all parish families. Those families who prefer the Carol Rounding group NOT to visit their homes are requested to inform their area prayer group leaders as soon as possible so that proper arrangements can be made.
- There will be Carol Rounding song practice today, November 3rd, after the service and next Sunday, November 10th, after the service
Ecumenical Christmas Program
- Detroit Ecumenical Council’s 30th Christmas Program will be conducted on Dec 29th, Sunday 5PM at in our Fellowship Hall. The Ecumenical Christmas Carol Choir will be part of the program, those who would like to sing and be part of the Detroit Ecumenical Choir group are requested to provide their names to the parish secretary as soon as possible. First choir practice is scheduled for Friday, Oct 25th.
Edavaka Sangham List
- The 2024 Edavaka Sangham list which includes all parish members 18 years or older is published in the notice board. Please note the list is put in order by house number. All members are requested to review and please inform the Vicar or Secretary of any corrections.

- 2024 members’ contribution list as of October 31st is posted in the notice board. Requesting all members to please review the list. For any questions or corrections please contact the trustees.
- Also a friendly reminder from the trustees as the end of the year is approaching all members must submit their contributions for 2024 by next month December. Contributions for 2024 will not be accepted in the new year. Requesting the kind cooperation of all members, thank you

Refreshments
- Thanks to the refreshment committee for arranging today’s refreshment.
- Many families have not contributed this year for refreshments. Based on GB decision the minimum expected contribution is $100. Kindly requesting all families to submit their contribution as soon as possible to ensure the smooth functioning of refreshments distribution
