General Body Notice
- The General Body Meeting of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church will be held on Sunday, March 26th, 2023 in the sanctuary immediately after the Holy Communion Service presided by the President and Vicar, Rev. Varghese Thomas.The agenda is as follows:
- Presentation and Adoption of the Annual Report for 2022
- Presentation and Adoption of the ratified over-budgeted and non-budgeted items for 2022
- Presentation and Adoption of the Audited Accounts for 2022
- Presentation and Adoption of the Budget for 2023
- Election of Auditor for 2023
- AOB with prior permission from the Chair
All General Body members are requested to attend this meeting.
Worship Services
- Friday, March 31 – 10 AM – Holy Qurbana Service in Malayalam (40th Friday )
- Sunday, April 2 – 10:15 AM – Holy Qurbana Service in Malayalam (Palm Sunday)

- We strongly encourage all members to follow COVID prevention measures when coming to the church:
- Mask use is optional but encouraged
- If you are Covid positive or have known exposure and experiencing symptoms, you are requested to stay home. You may return to church activities after 5 days of isolating

Great Lent “Sandhya Namaskaram”
- The Great Lent “Sandhya Namaskaram” evening prayers will continue this week, Monday through Friday, at 7pm via Zoom. Encouraging all members to join in this time of prayer and meditation on God’s Word in this lenten season
Passion Week Events
- Passion Week will be observed starting Sunday April 2nd. All Passion Week events will occur at the church.
- “Sandhya Namaskaram”: Monday thru Wednesday, April 3rd to April 5th, at 7 pm
- Maundy Thursday: April 6th, Holy Qurbana in Malayalam at 7 pm
- Good Friday Service: April 7th at 9am. Part 1 and 3 of the service will be in Malayalam and Part 2 will be in English.

Youth Group
- There will be a Bible Study this Saturday, April 1st, at 1:30 pm going over Joshua 5-6. Encouraging all youths to attend and to bring a Bible.
- There will be a youth group farewell for Jose Achen and Shyny Kochamma on Saturday, April 8th, at 11 am. Requesting all youths to join.
New Vicar’s Transfer
- As announced last week, our Vicar Rev. Varghese Thomas is transferred from our parish effective May, 1st 2023. Jose Achen & Shyny Kochamma’s travel arrangements have been made, they will be departing from Detroit on Monday, April 17th. Farewell meeting for Achen & Kochamma will be held on Sunday April 16th.Also Rev. Santhosh Varghese has been appointed as our new Vicar effective May 1st, 2023. Santhosh Achen and family have their interview for visa scheduled on Wednesday March 29th in Mumbai.
Let’s keep Jose Achen, Santosh Achen, and their families in our prayers as they prepare for their respective transfers
Zeffy – Online Payment Option
- As announced last week, we have set-up a new Electronic Payment option for the parish called Zeffy. Zeffy is a user-friendly platform set-up for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option. Contributions can be made with credit card, bank account, Apple or Google pay. We strongly encourage all members to utilize Zeffy for electronic payments. Our Trustees want to thank all the members who have utilized this method as this streamlines the financial activities of the parish.
