- Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. T.A. George (87), father of our member Mr. Abraham George on Thursday, December 8th in Kerala. Funeral service was held yesterday at Maramon Mar Thoma Church. May our Almighty Lord grant the family strength and comfort them with His peace
Worship Services
- Next Sunday – December 18
- 10:15 AM – Holy Communion Service in Malayalam
- Sunday School: Due to the carol service on Saturday there will no Sunday School at church next Sunday
- We strongly encourage all members to follow COVID prevention measures when coming to the church:
- Mask use is optional but encouraged
- If you are Covid positive or have known exposure and experiencing symptoms, you are requested to stay home. You may return to church activities after 5 days of isolating
- Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
Online Weekly Prayers
- Intercessory Prayer on Wednesday at 7 PM (via Zoom)
- Fasting prayer this Friday at 10:30 AM (via Zoom)
Christmas Carol Service
- Our Christmas Carol Service will be held this Saturday December 17th, at 5:00 PM at the church. Rev Fr. Pathrose Panuvel, Vicar of St. Joseph Syro-Malankara Catholic church will be the chief guest. The service will include songs from our English and Malayalam Choir and special presentation by our Sunday school children and carol rounding group. All members are invited to the Christmas carol service, requesting everyone’s prayerful participation.
Christmas Service
- Christmas Service will be celebrated on Sunday December 25th. Holy Qurbana in English at 9:00 am. PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE
Watchnight Service
- Year Ending – Watch night service will be held on Saturday, December 31st. Witnessing Session will begin at 9:30 PM and Holy Qurbana service in Malayalam at 11:00 PM.Please note there will be NO REGULAR SERVICE Sunday morning on January 1st, 2023
Prayer Fellowships
- Prayer Group 6 will have a prayer meeting next Sunday, December 18th immediately after the service at the church. Election of Prayer Group 6 representative for the year 2023 will be held during the meeting. All prayer group members are requested to attend
Sunday School
- Sunday School Christmas Carol Program practices: There will be Sunday School Christmas Carol program practice today, December 11th after the refreshments. There will also be a final practice sessions on Friday – December 16 at 6 PM at the church
All Sunday School students participating in the carol service program are required to come to these practices.
- 2023 Diocesan Exam Certificates will be distributed to the Sunday School students on Sunday December 11th, after the service. Students are requested to be available at front benches to receive the certificates
Youth Group
- There will be a Combined Christmas Get-Together with St. John Mar Thoma Church Youth Group on Friday December 23rd at 5:30 pm at the Detroit Mar Thoma Church. All youths are encouraged to come
Christmas Carol Rounding
- Christmas Carol Rounding will conclude today covering families in Prayer Group 3. We will be starting at 2:00 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Jacob (Shibu) & Annie Thomas. 4083 Overlea Ct, Bloomfield Hills, MI, 48302Requesting all carolers to arrive on time.

Trustees Appeal
- We are coming to the year end which means it is also the end of the church financial year. A friendly reminder to all members to submit their pending dues and any contributions for 2022 as soon as possible. Per decision of our general body the set amount for voluntary contribution for a family is $85 per month or $1020 annually. Additionally, each family is expected at minimum to contribute $50 annually towards the diocese to meet the diocese dues for our church per kalpana. We thank all our members for their wholehearted support thus far and we request your cooperation with these contributions so that we can close the financial year smoothly
