Condolences


  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. Mathew Varghese (47), brother of our member Mr. Abraham Varghese (Ypsilanti, MI) on Thursday, October 13th in Jacksonville, FL. Funeral service details will be provided later. May our Almighty Lord grant the family strength and comfort them with His peace.

    • Mask use is optional but encouraged

Online Weekly Prayers


  • Intercessory Prayer on Wednesday at 7 PM (via Zoom)

Prayer Fellowship


  • Prayer Group 3 will have a prayer meeting on Saturday, October 22nd at 6:30pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Samji Koshy in Troy, MI. 4951 Chadbury Ct., Troy MI 48085. All prayer group members are requested to attend.
  • A combined prayer meeting of All Prayer Groups will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, at 5:30 pm at the church hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Saju & Jessy Philip. All members are kindly requested to attend

Sunday School


  • Sunday School Christmas Carol Program practices will start today Sunday, October 16th after the refreshments in the church. There will also be 2 practice sessions next weekend:

    Saturday, October 22nd at 10 am at the church

    Sunday, October 23rd after service at the church

    We encourage all Sunday School students to come and participate!

Senior Fellowship


  • Next meeting of the Senior Fellowship will be held this Saturday, October 22, at 3:00pm at the Church. All seniors are requested to attend

Yuvajana Sakhyam


  • Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Diocese of North America and Europe is organizing an Essay competition on the topic “യുവജനങ്ങൾ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ പിന്തുടർച്ചക്കാർ (Youths inheritors of faith)”. The competition will be in both Malayalam and English. The first prize will be a 150-dollar cash prize each in Malayalam and English. The second prize will be a 100-dollar cash prize each in Malayalam and English as well.  Please submit your essays to marthomayuvajanasakhyamnae@gmail.com by October 16th, 2022 at 9 pm EST. Requesting participation from all Sakha members’.

Essay competition criteria are as follows:

  1. Participants must be registered MTYS members of our Diocese.
  2. Essay should be legible and be based on Christian values.
  3. Essay should not be more than 500 words.
  4. The decision of the Diocesan YS council will be final.
  • Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Diocese of North America and Europe is organizing a Liturgical Musical Fest on Sunday, October 23rd, at 8 pm. The theme for the event “Kolo d Shmayo: Voice of Heaven”. Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa will inaugurate the musical fest. The event will be shown live on ABBA News and live streaming through DSMC. All parish members are welcome to join.

Vaccine Clinic: Flu Vaccine and Covid Booster


  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church is partnering with Rite Aid for a vaccine clinic at the church today October 16th after the service. Both Flu shot and Covid Booster shot will be available. All those who have signed up are requested to head to the fellowship hall stage to check-in. Walk-ins are being accepted today at the stage as well.

Parish Convention & Family Sunday


  • Our Parish Convention-2022 will be held from Friday October 28th to Sunday October 30th at the Church. Theme for the convention is “Family that has to be built upon Christ” based on Ephesians 3:14-19. Rev. Manu Varghese, Vicar of Seattle Mar Thoma Church will be the speaker. Achen will be with us in-person for the convention. Convention will start at 7:00 PM on Friday October 28th, 6:30 pm on Saturday, October 29th, and conclude on Sunday, Oct.30th, after the worship service.

    It has been 3 years since we have had a convention speaker join us in-person therefore all parish members are encouraged to attend the convention at the church. If any parish members require transportation to the church for convention, please contact area prayer group leaders or the Secretary, transportation arrangements will be made accordingly.

  • Family Dedication and Tithe Sunday will also be celebrated on Sunday Oct. 30th, the last day of the convention. All families are requested to participate and sit together for the worship service. Families are also requested to prayerfully prepare and bring their tithe offering.

Note on PayPal Contributions


  • On July 29th, 2022, PayPal updated its policies and now charges a fee for contributions to the church PayPal account submitted from a personal PayPal account. Members may still contribute through PayPal without being charged a fee using the PayPal Giving Fund of Detroit Mar Thoma Church. A link to the PayPal Giving fund is posted on the church website and will be sent in the weekly announcements.

  • Please note that when using the PayPal Giving Fund, members cannot designate the category of their contribution therefore once completing a transaction through PayPal Giving Fund, members must provide details to trustees so that contributions may be accounted properly.
  • Also please note this policy update only impacts contributions through PayPal. Contributions through Venmo are not affected currently. Thank you once again to all members for your wholehearted financial support for the smooth functioning of the parish.
