Condolences
- Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. P. T. Zachariah (97 years) grandfather of Neethi Kochamma in Mepral, Thiruvalla, Kerala. The funeral service was held on Saturday, July 20th at the St. John’s Orthodox Church Mepral. May the Almighty Lord strengthen and comfort the family with peace that passeth all human understanding. Let’s all please stand for a moment of silence and prayer.

- SS Anniversary will be held on August 10th, Saturday at 3:00 pm at the church. SS children who are interested in participating in any solo or group performance please give your names to the coordinators Mr. Edwin James or Mr. Reji Alexander.
Youth Group
- Summer Volleyball will be held on July 24th, Wednesday at 6:30pm.
- Summer Sports League – Boys Basketball on July 27th, Saturday at the School Gym.
- Summer Sports League – Girls Volleyball on July 28th, Sunday at 1:30 PM at the School Gym.
- Community Service: Youth Group Community Service Event will be on July 27th, Saturday from 9 am – 11:30 at the World Medical Relief Organization in Southfield. World Medical Relief is a non-profit organization that provides to the needy in Detroit and abroad with medical supplies, equipment, and prescriptions since 1953. Youth group needs at least 15 people to volunteer! If you are interested please contact Shereen Thomas or Christina Varghese by July 20th. More information can be found in the youth group email.

Sevika Sanghom
- Atlanta Project Collection: Each Parish Sevika Sanghom unit in the Diocese is requested to collect special fund for the Atlanta Project and assigned amount for our Sevika Sanghom unit is $2,500.
- Sevika Sanghom is supporting a Nursing Student in India and request donations for this project. Please make check to Detroit Mar Thoma Church Sevika Sanghom and give to Sevika Sanghom treasurer Jessy Philip.
- Sevika Sanghom 19th Annual Diocesan Conference will be held from Thursday, October 10th through Sunday, October 13th at Trinity Mar Thoma Church, Houston. The theme for this year’s conference is Women: Agents of Life (Exodus 1:17) and will be led by Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos Episcopa. Registration deadline is June 30th, next Sunday and after the deadline there will be a $25 late fee will be added to the registration fee.
Senior Fellowship
- Senior Fellowship get together will be held on July 27th, Saturday from 12:00 pm to 4.00 pm at the Annex building. Lunch will be provided.
- Senior Fellowship 5th National Diocesan Conference will be held from September 25th-28th at Ascension Mar Thoma Church, Philadelphia, PA. Those who are interested to attend please contact Mr. George Thomas (Babu) or Mr. P.M. George for registration forms and more details.
Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Bake Sale
Yuvajana Sakhyam will be conducting a bake sale on July 28th, Sunday for raising funds for Home for Homeless project & Education support. Bake sale coupons will be available from today on-wards. Yuvajanasakhyam requests the cooperation of all church members by participating in bake sale and also by giving donations.

20th Diocesan Yuvajana Sakhyam Conference will be held from October 4th to October 6th, hosted by Christos Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam, Philadelphia. Edavaka Mission
- Edavaka Mission is requesting donations to give financial support for Nursing Students in India. Please make check to Detroit Marthoma Church and in the memo please write Edavaka Mission-Nursing student support.
- The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelist’s Association of the Diocese of North America and Europe is hosting the 15th Diocesan Conference from August 1st to August 4th in Toronto at the St. Mathew’s Mar Thoma Church. The theme of the conference is based on 1 Cor 3:9, “Co-Workers of the Kingdom of God” and will be led by Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios Episcopa, clergies and lay leaders. Those who are interested to attend the conference please contact Mr. Georgey Mathews. Registration deadline is June 30th.
Mar Thoma Fest – 2019
- Mar Thoma Fest 2019 will be held on Saturday, August 17th. If you are interested to participate in singing, skit or dance please give your names to Marthoma fest conveners Mrs. Jaya Varghese or Mrs. Sabina Cherian today. More details regarding sports will be announced later.

If you plan on playing volleyball or basketball, please be available to play on Friday (August 16) and Saturday (August 17). Each team for volleyball / basketball cannot have more than (8) players. Please send roster, team name and T-shirt color preference to Abin Varghese. For tug of war, teams are based on church organizational groups.

- Mr. Georgey and Mollykutty Mathews were blessed with a grandchild Nathanael Sam Varghese on Friday July 19th at 6 pm. Baby Nathanael and mother are doing well. Congratulations to the family..
