Cottage Prayers
- Prayer Group 4 will have a prayer meeting on Oct 12, at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Varghese Abraham, 49595 Winslow Court, Plymouth at 5 PM. Prayer Group leader for 2026 will also be elected in this meeting. Requesting all prayer Group 4 members to attend this prayer meeting.
- Prayer Group 2 will have a meeting at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Eapen Chacko, 51750 Turnburry Dr. S South Lyon on October 10, Friday at 7 PM. Prayer Group leader for 2026 will also be elected at this meeting. Requesting all prayer group 2 members to attend this meeting.
Sunday School
- There will be a SS teachers meeting today after refreshments at the sanctuary. All Sunday school teachers are requested to attend this meeting
- World Sunday School day is November 2nd. All class awards will be distributed during the service
Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Yuvajana Sakhyam will have a meeting on Oct 12 after worship service at church. Office bearers for the year 2026 will be selected in this meeting.
- YS is fundraising for charities ongoing and completed for 2025. This year they have donated a bike for an evangelist in Andhra Pradesh mission field in April and they are planning to support few more charities this year. For fundraising, YS is selling Kozhikoden Chicken Biriyani on Oct 19th, Yuvajana Sakhyam sunday after service for $15 per plate.Pre-sale tickets can be bought after service on Sundays 5th and 12th. Seeking every member’s support for the charities.
- YS is conducting their annual membership campaign. Collecting registration names for eligible YS members from Detroit Mar Thoma Church ages 13 to 45 with $10 / member for membership to support kendra and north america diocese fees.For adding to YS membership list please reach to secretary – Stanley. Existing member can pay their membership renewal fees of $10/member. Please pay to Trustee – Libin.
Membership requests and dues are needed by Oct 19th Sunday for timely submission of membership list by Oct 31st.
Sevika Sanghom
- The monthly meeting of the Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 AM at church. We invite all members to join this meeting. Election of the 2026 office bearers will be held at this meeting
Edavaka Mission & Senior Citizen
- A combined meeting of the Edavaka Mission and Senior Citizen Fellowship will be conducted on October 18, Saturday at 11:00 AM at church. Election of the 2026 office bearers for both organizations will be conducted in this meeting
Parish Retreat
- As we have been announcing, our parish retreat is October 24 to October 26, which is the Family Sunday. It starts on Friday evening and ends on Sunday. Retreat will be led by Pastor Dwight H. Yoo., a renowned speaker and very familiar to our youths and young adults. This is free to all our parish members but you need to register to attend the retreat. Please go to the link provided with the announcement and register yours and family’s name. The link is also shared through prayer group leaders and other organization WhatsApp channel. This is a great opportunity for all of us to participate in the retreat conducted at our parish. We are making all the plans to conduct it in a offsite retreat format with lots of activities for all age groups and very interesting talks. First Communion
- Parish is planning to conduct First Communion service as part of the next year’s parish day celebrations in March. We are starting the first communion classes for kids who are planning to take the communion. Your child is eligible to participate in the communion classes if he or she is going to be 12 by March next year. Please contact Achan and register the name
Honoring Golden Anniversary Couples
- As part of this year’s Family Sunday celebration on October 26, our parish is planning a special tribute to honor all couples who have celebrated or will be celebrating their Golden Anniversary (50 years of marriage) by the end of this month.Since this is the first time we are hosting such an event, we would like to include all eligible couples, whether they have already reached this milestone or will be reaching it soon.
I’ve been trying to reach out to you by phone. If we haven’t had a chance to speak yet, and you’re attending church today, kindly meet me after the service. I’d love to connect with you in person.
Photo Directory
- 2025 Photo Directory has been rescheduled to November 7th-9th of this year. The sessions will be as follows:
– Friday the 7th: 4pm-10pm
– Saturday the 8th: 9am-10pm
– Sunday the 9th 2pm-10pmPhotography sessions will be scheduled via SignupGenius. The link to the Signup Genius will be sent to parish families through their respective prayer group leaders as well as in the weekly announcements. Each family is asked to sign up for a single 10 minute slot during one of the 3 days that is available and works with their family’s schedule. If your family is unable to attend one of the sessions from November 7th-9th, please inform either your prayer group leader, Deborah George, or Justin Jones. - Refreshments will be served for 30 minutes only and the cleanup will start after. Requesting every one to join the fellowship time as soon as we finish the benediction.
- They are also requesting those who haven’t contributed to the annual refreshment fund to do so soon. The minimum expected is 100 dollars.

Note about Security – Email/Phone Contacts from the church
- As we are all aware there are many security threats to our personal information in the modern age and unfortunately many ill-intended people try to access this information through underhanded methods. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts: Vicar: vicar@detroitmarthoma.org or 248-792-1134 (Mobile) Secretary: sec@detroitmarthoma.org Trustees: trustees@detroitmarthoma.org. The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will NEVER ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members. If you have any further questions please contact the church office bearers.
Live Streaming of Church Events
Live streaming will be available on the church YouTube channel – https://youtube.com/@DetroitMarthomaChurch. After clicking the link, click on “Live” and find the livestream for the respective church event.
We will do our very best to live stream all church events, however as this is dependent on trained volunteers, there may be technical interruptions and occasions where live streaming is not available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Zeffy – Online Payment Option
- Zeffy is a user-friendly platform for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option. Contributions can be made with credit card, bank account, Apple or Google pay. We strongly encourage all members to utilize Zeffy for electronic payments. Our Trustees want to thank all the members who have utilized this method as this streamlines the financial activities of the parish.
