Condolences
- With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Mr. V.O. Baby (89), father of our member Mr. Shine Joseph of Prayer Group #4, In Kerala on Sept 23rd Tuesday. He was surrounded by his loving children, Shine and Sheena, in his final moments. The funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Marthoma Church, Mulakuzha on Sept 27th Saturday. We kindly request your prayers and support for the family during this challenging time.

Parish Retreat
- We are delighted to announce our parish retreat this year starting from October 24 to ending on October 26, which is the Family Sunday. Retreat will be led by Pastor Dwight H. Yoo . Pastor Dwight H. Yoo is very familiar to our youths as the key note speaker for their multiple regional camps. He was former senior pastor of Renewal Presbyterian Church and is working currently as Metro Philadelphia Church Planting Network Coordinator. Pastor Yoo is deeply committed to missional effectiveness, especially in urban and multicultural contexts. His work emphasizes gospel-centered growth, leadership development, and community transformation.The theme for the Retreat is “CREATED FOR COMMUNITY”
The registration for the retreat will start today. We want everybody in the church to utilize this opportunity and participate in the retreat and get blessed, so committee decided to make it free for everyone BUT you have to register in advance if you want to attend the retreat. This is the first time we are trying to conduct a three day retreat at the church premises and we are making lots of planning to make sure that this will be in a retreat format with lots of open time for fellowship along with the talks and other sessions. PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE. The flyers are posted outside. You can scan the QR code and register quickly. Please do that.
Dr. Shane Thomas is going to make a special announcement in this regard after my announcement and he will provide more details.

Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Yuvajana Sakhyam is collecting names for Volunteering with Forgotten Harvest. The date is Nov 1, Saturday 1 PM – 4 PM. Age 10 and above are eligible to participate. Contact YS Secretary Mr. Stanley Samuel for more information.
- YS is conducting their annual membership campaign. Collecting registration names for eligible YS members from Detroit Mar Thoma Church ages 13 to 45 with $10 / member for membership to support kendra and north america diocese fees.
For adding to YS membership list please reach to secretary – Stanley. Existing member can pay their membership renewal fees of $10/member. Please pay to Trustee – Libin.
Membership requests and dues are needed by Oct 19th Sunday for timely submission of membership list by Oct 31st.

Young Family Fellowship (YFF)
- There will be a Young Family Fellowship meeting on Friday, Oct 3rd at 6:30 PM at church. All young adults and young families are requested to join. There will be a session arranged for kids during the meeting. For any questions please contact John Mathews – Tiffy
Sevika Sanghom
- We will have the mid west region Sevika Sanghom Retreat on Saturday, October 04, 2025 at St. Johns Mar Thoma Church, Michigan. Rev. Ashish Thomas, vicar of Chicago Mar Thoma church will be the lead speaker for the retreat. The theme for the retreat is, WOMEN: PROCLAIMERS AND PRACTISIONERS OF CHANGE. - 2025 Photo Directory has been rescheduled to November 7th-9th of this year. The sessions will be as follows:
– Friday the 7th: 4pm-10pm
– Saturday the 8th: 9am-10pm
– Sunday the 9th 2pm-10pmPhotography sessions will be scheduled via SignupGenius. The link to the Signup Genius will be sent to parish families through their respective prayer group leaders as well as in the weekly announcements. Each family is asked to sign up for a single 10 minute slot during one of the 3 days that is available and works with their family’s schedule. If your family is unable to attend one of the sessions from November 7th-9th, please inform either your prayer group leader, Deborah George, or Justin Jones. We are looking forward to having an updated directory and ask all parish families for their prayerful participation.

Honoring Golden Anniversary Couples
- As part of our Family Sunday Celebrations, our parish will be honoring couples who have completed 50 years of marriage by the end of October.
If you or someone you know has reached this remarkable milestone, please inform Santosh Achan or the Parish Secretary so that we can make the necessary arrangements to celebrate and honor you during the event.

Trustees Updates
- CHURCH PEWS: Pews will be removed today after service. They are donated to a couple in Lansing and will be used for their upcoming outdoor wedding and later will be donated to their church in Lansing. New Pews and chairs will arrive next week and will be installed as per the schedule from trustees.
- DUES FROM MAR THOMA FEST AND AUCTION: Requesting all those who have outstanding dues on Mar Thoma fest or Auction to clear it. If you have any questions, please check with the trustees
Refreshments
- Thanks to refreshment team for arranging the refreshments today.
- Note from the refreshment team:
- Refreshments will be served for 30 minutes only and the cleanup will start after. Requesting every one to join the fellowship time as soon as we finish the benediction.
- They are also requesting those who haven’t contributed to the annual refreshment fund to do so soon. The minimum expected is 100 dollars.

Note about Security – Email/Phone Contacts from the church
- As we are all aware there are many security threats to our personal information in the modern age and unfortunately many ill-intended people try to access this information through underhanded methods. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts: Vicar: vicar@detroitmarthoma.org or 248-792-1134 (Mobile) Secretary: sec@detroitmarthoma.org Trustees: trustees@detroitmarthoma.org. The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will NEVER ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members. If you have any further questions please contact the church office bearers.
Live Streaming of Church Events
Live streaming will be available on the church YouTube channel – https://youtube.com/@DetroitMarthomaChurch. After clicking the link, click on “Live” and find the livestream for the respective church event.
We will do our very best to live stream all church events, however as this is dependent on trained volunteers, there may be technical interruptions and occasions where live streaming is not available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

- Zeffy is a user-friendly platform for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option.
