Condolences
- Mrs. Kunjumol Cherian (87) , our former member and wife of Dr. P. V. Cherian passed away on May 19th in Chicago. They are currently members of Chicago Mar Thoma Church. Funeral was held on Friday at Chicago Mar Thoma Church.Kunjumol aunty was a very active member of our parish along with her husband Dr. P. V. Cherian for close to 20 years before moving to Chicago few years back. She served as Assembly member, Mandalam member, Diocesan council member, Sevika Sanghom Vice President and as Sevika Sanghom Secretary for many years. She also took several leadership roles at the Diocesan level for Sevika Sanghom and contributed to the growth of the North America & Europe Diocese working along with her husband.We as a Parish remember her services to this parish and express our deepest condolences and offer prayers for comfort and peace to P. V. Cherian Uncle and the entire family during this time of pain and loss
- Mr. P. A. Thomas (95), father of our former vicar Rev. Abraham Thomas ( Aby Achan ) passed away in Kerala. Funeral was held on 05/23/2025 at the Kozhencherry Mar Thoma Church, where Aby Achan is currently the vicar.Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolences and offers prayers for comfort and peace to Achan and the entire family during this time of pain and loss

DSMC USA Choir Meet
- Diocesan DSMC is hosting a choir meet with Metropolitan today May 25 @ 8:30 PM via Zoom. This meeting will be presided by the Diocesan Episcopa. All choir members are requested to attend.

- Youth Group Lock-in:Lock In will be starting today, Sunday May 25th to Monday May 26th @5:30 PM at the respective houses for boys and girls. Please make sure to bring $10 to cover costs of food.

Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Monthly meeting: Yuvajana Sakhyam’s June meeting to happen on May 31st at 6pm at Ajay & Shilpa’s home (6036 Fieldstone Circle, South Lyon, 48178). Requesting participation of all Yuvajana Sakhyam members
- Midwest region YJS is conducting an essay competition based on the theme “Faith and witness in the midst of the generations in the migrant church. (കുടിയേറ്റ സഭയിലെ തലമുറകളുടെ ഇടയിൽ വിശ്വാസവും സാക്ഷ്യവും).”Participants must be registered members of the Marthoma Yuvajana Sakhyam in the North American diocese. Essay can be composed either in English or Malayalam and competition will be conducted separately for each language. The essay should be legible and be based on Christian Values.Essay Registration fees: $10 per church (Payable through Venmo or Zelle (93776822759)) to Midwest Regional YJS Treasurer Mr. Abraham Eapen.The deadline for essay submissions is 11:00 PM CST/11:55 PM EST on July 10th, 2025. Detailed rules/guidelines for essay are also attached. Please encourage yourself to participate in this competition and be blessed. Prizes will be 1st and 2nd to the winners in each language category and prizes will be announced at the Midwest region YJS Kalamela on August 23rd 2025. Young Family Fellowship
- There will be a Young Families Fellowship (YFF) meeting on Friday, June 6th at 6 pm at Normandy Oak Park in Royal Oak, MI (4234 Delemere Blvd, Royal Oak, MI 48073). Dinner will be provided. All young adults and young families are requested to join and weather permitting, the playground and splash pad will be available for kids from 4 pm through the evening.

Graduation Sunday
- We are celebrating June 8 as our graduation Sunday for honoring all the students who are graduating this year. Requesting all graduates to participate in this special Sunday service
Sunday School
- Our 2025 Vacation Bible School is around the corner. This year’s VBS Theme is Egypt: Joseph’s Journey (From Prison to Palace)

Diocesan Family Conference
- 35th family conference of Diocese of NA will be conducted from July 3 – 6 hosted by North East RAC. Conference is conducted at Long Island New York. Registration is in progress. For more details contact Achen, Assembly members, Mr. Boben George and Mr. Runcie Chacko.
Mar Thoma Festival
Our most anticipated annual summer event, Mar Thoma Fest will be held on Saturday, August 16th. The convenors of this program, Stanley, Becca, Shane and Runcie are actively planning the programs & Schedule and I believe it is going to be very interesting and different this year.
As the school year is getting over soon, they need to start the dance and other cultural program performance practices soon. Please signup for the the dance performances – specifically kids from the 1st grade through college.

They are also looking for of help with choreographers for the kids dances. Anyone highschool age or oder is welcome to choreograph, it is your chance to show your choreography skills and impress your friends 😊. If you are interested, reach out to Rebecca Varghese ( Becca )

Maintenance Updates
- Recently Executive Committee approved to build a temporary platform to help with various cooking and cleaning activities for different church events, especially for summer events. A team of dedicated volunteers under the leadership of Trustee Mr. Thomas Abraham worked from Friday to Saturday to transform the place and build the platform. This will be very useful for our church in the coming days. It was lot of back breaking work in getting the materials from home depot, prepping the area and building it. Parish would like to thank each and every one who helped with the project. Few people missing in the final picture are , Bappu, Shinoj and Rijo Koshy and also Juby, who brought us dinner for Friday.We also added mulch to some of the areas that needed replenishment.
- Emergency exit door usage: Men’s side emergency exit door – Please refrain from using the exit door to access gym. Since there is no concrete side walk built in that area, there is lot of debris and dirt getting into the carpet and in to door frames thus jamming the door from getting closed. Please use the main doors to move in and out of the church.
Refreshments
- Thanks to Manoj & Ancy for sponsoring todays refreshments and to the Refreshments committee for the arrangements. Requesting everyone to join the fellowship immediately after benediction
- Note from the refreshment team:
- Refreshments will be served for 30 minutes only and the cleanup will start after. Requesting every one to join the fellowship time as soon as we finish the benediction.
- They are also requesting those who haven’t contributed to the annual refreshment fund to do so soon. The minimum expected is 100 dollars.

Visitors/Guests
- We have special guests attending our service today. Rev. Joe Mathew and Anu Kochamma are attending our service today. Achan is the Vicar of Salem Mar Thoma Church, Chungathara. They have two children, Justin and Jeslin. Achan is related to our members Sam uncle and Sudha aunty and is visiting them from India. We as a parish extend our warm welcome to both Achan and Kochamma and also wish them a safe journey back to India.

Note about Security – Email/Phone Contacts from the church
- As we are all aware there are many security threats to our personal information in the modern age and unfortunately many ill-intended people try to access this information through underhanded methods. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts: Vicar: vicar@detroitmarthoma.org or 248-792-1134 (Mobile) Secretary: sec@detroitmarthoma.org Trustees: trustees@detroitmarthoma.org. The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will NEVER ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members. If you have any further questions please contact the church office bearers.

We will do our very best to live stream all church events, however as this is dependent on trained volunteers, there may be technical interruptions and occasions where live streaming is not available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

- Zeffy is a user-friendly platform for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option.
