Cottage Prayers

  • Prayer Group 4 will have a prayer meeting at the residence Mr. Varghese Abraham & Family ( Raju uncle and Gracy aunty ) on 04/27, that is next Sunday at 5 PM. All prayer group members are requested to attend the prayer fellowship.

Young Family Fellowship (YFF)

  • The first meeting of the Young Families Fellowship will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 6:30 pm at the church. Welcoming all young families along with your children to join the meeting.

Sunday School

  • Midwest Regional Sunday School Teachers Retreat is on Saturday April 26th from 10 AM to 12 PM. This is hosted by St. Johns Mar Thoma Church Sunday School, Michigan. Rev. Dr. Moni Mathew is the Guest Speaker. All Sunday school teachers are requested to prayerfully attend

Youth Group

  • The 45th Diocesan Youth Fellowship Conference of the Diocese of North America of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church will be held from July 31-August 3, 2025. This year’s theme is “Living Out His Story,” with Rev. Larry Varghese Achen as the keynote speaker. The conference will be hosted by the Mar Thoma Church Atlanta Youth Fellowship. Registration is now Open. Early registration ends May 6th, and final registration ends July 6th. More information will be in the youth group email.

  • St Thomas Mar Thoma Church Youth Group is hosting the Midwest Regional Sports tournament on May 31st in Chicago. Those who are interested in creating a girls’ volleyball and boys’ basketball team, please register your teams by April 30th.

  • As announced in February, we have collected interests from our parish families to start a Young Families Fellowship in our parish. Senior Fellowship

  • Mar Thoma Church of NA Senior Citizen Fellowship is arranging a prayer & farewell meeting on Mon April 21st at 8 PM EST through Zoom.

Diocesan Family Conference

  • 35th family conference of Diocese of NA will be conducted from July 3 – 6 hosted by North East RAC. Conference is conducted at Long Island New York. Registration is in progress. For more details contact Achen, Assembly members, Mr. Boben George and Mr. Runcie Chacko.

Medical Team

  • Medical tram is looking for new volunteers to join the team. Those who are working in the medical field and interested to join the team , please give your name to Mrs. Mini Varghese.

Spring Cleaning

  • We are planning spring cleaning in the church and parsonage. Church inside cleaning is scheduled for April 25th Friday @5:30 PM. Church outside and parsonage outside cleaning is scheduled for April 26th at 9 AM. Signup sheets are posted in the parish hall notice board. Please sign up to help with these activities.
  • If you have any personal items left in the church, please make sure to collect it or else we might be throwing those in the dumpster or donating it to charity. We have also seen personal bibles left in the church. Requesting everyone to check if you have anything here that belongs to you.

Refreshments

  • Thanks to Samuel N. Thomas (Thampy) & family for arranging todays Easter Special refreshments. Thanks to refreshment team for making all the arrangements. Requesting everyone to join the fellowship immediately after benediction.
  • Note from the refreshment team:
    • Refreshments will be served for 30 minutes only and the cleanup will start after. Requesting every one to join the fellowship time as soon as we finish the benediction.
    • They are also requesting those who haven’t contributed to the annual refreshment fund to do so soon. The minimum expected is 100 dollars.

Birthdays & Wedding Anniversaries

  • DMTC Family wishes all our fellow members celebrating their Birthday and Wedding Anniversary this upcoming week. May the Almighty Lord bless each one of you and your family in the New Year and the years ahead.

Acknowledgements

We are deeply thankful for the blessings received throughout this Lenten season. The 50 days of Great Lent prayers were wonderfully organized and spiritually uplifting, thanks to the dedicated efforts of many. We extend our sincere gratitude to Santosh achan,Mr. Thomson David, our prayer group leaders, and both English and Malayalam lay leaders for their hard work and commitment. We also appreciate everyone who delivered the Lent devotions and the organizations that supported the Lenten devotion through flyers and recordings.

Our thanks to Rev. Santosh Varughese for leading the worship service and message today. Thanks to Rev. P. Chacko, Rev. Philip Varughese, Lay Leaders, Choir, Live stream and Audio teams for assisting todays service. Wishing every one a blessed Easter

As many of you may or may not know we maintain an online photo directory of parish families. Many photos in the directory are outdated and we invite and encourage all families to provide a more recent photo to be included in the directory. Note about Security – Email/Phone Contacts from the church

  • As we are all aware there are many security threats to our personal information in the modern age and unfortunately many ill-intended people try to access this information through underhanded methods. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts: Vicar: vicar@detroitmarthoma.org or 248-792-1134 (Mobile) Secretary: sec@detroitmarthoma.org Trustees: trustees@detroitmarthoma.org. The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will NEVER ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members. If you have any further questions please contact the church office bearers.

Live Streaming of Church Events

Live streaming will be available on the church YouTube channel – https://youtube.com/@DetroitMarthomaChurch.  After clicking the link, click on “Live” and find the livestream for the respective church event.

We will do our very best to live stream all church events, however as this is dependent on trained volunteers, there may be technical interruptions and occasions where live streaming is not available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Zeffy – Online Payment Option

  • Zeffy is a user-friendly platform for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option. Contributions can be made with credit card, bank account, Apple or Google pay. We strongly encourage all members to utilize Zeffy for electronic payments. Our Trustees want to thank all the members who have utilized this method as this streamlines the financial activities of the parish.
