Matthew 15:21-28
The Canaanite woman’s story is a powerful example of intercession. Though it was her daughter who was suffering, she cried out, “Lord, help me!” She treated her daughter’s pain as her own, bearing the burden with unwavering faith. Even when Jesus responded with silence and apparent rejection, she persisted, acknowledging Him as the Master and longing for even the crumbs of His mercy.
Her plea reflects the heart of true intercession. Do we carry the struggles of others as if they were our own? Are we willing to persist in prayer, trusting in God’s goodness even when answers seem delayed or denied? Interceding like the Canaanite woman means humbly recognizing our dependence on God’s mercy, knowing that even a fragment of His grace is more than enough.
As we journey through Lent, may we be reminded of Jesus’ compassionate heart. Just as the Canaanite woman’s faith was honored, our prayers for others are never in vain. God may not always respond as we expect, but in His perfect wisdom, He brings renewal and healing. Let us pray with the confidence that our Savior understands and bears our burdens.
CLOSING PRAYER
Lord, teach us to intercede like the Canaanite woman, with persistence, humility, and unwavering faith. May we carry the needs of others in our hearts, trusting Your grace to sustain and renew. Strengthen our faith, knowing You are ever faithful. Amen.
