Final Word of Jesus on the Cross (Thomas Scariah)

Luke 23:46

During lent season we are meditating on what Jesus has  done on the cross. Let’s look on the one of the final words of Jesus, on cross. According to Luke 23:46 Jesus said  “Father in your hands I commit my spirit: and when he  said this, he breathed his last”. Christ suffered much  during crucifixion but he give up his life by giving his spirit  in father’s hand. As in scripture John 6:63 we can see that  “the spirit gives life, flesh profits nothing”. When we look  on the Christ’s birth, baptism, life, death, we can see that,  he was through the Holy Spirit.

Let us look on the importance of Holy Spirit in our life  through scripture. If we read book of John Chapters 14  through 16, we can see that Jesus is teaching about Holy  Spirit in depth. In John 16:7 he said “Unless I go away ,  the Advocate will not come to you , but If I go I will send  Him to you” In Romans 8:11 it is mentioned that “And if the  spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in  you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also  give life to the mortal bodies through His spirit, who lives  in you” and In Romans 8:16 says “the spirit himself  testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children”. Yes, the  Holy Spirit testifies to our human spirit that we are God’s  children. The same Holy Spirit also will give life to our  mortal bodies. So let’s pray to God the Father, to live a life  led by Holy Spirit.

CLOSING PRAYER

Gracious Father, as in the Romans 8:14 help us to live a  life led by holy spirit. We ask this in the name of Jesus  Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
