Jeremiah 18:1-6
In the Bible, one of the most beautiful illustrations of our relationship with God is the image of a potter and his clay. As the potter, God is the master artist, shaping us with boundless love, infinite wisdom, and a purposeful design.
To transform clay into a valuable vessel, it must endure a challenging process where the potter carefully holds and shapes it, turning mere dirt into something of purpose. Likewise, in our hardships, God is holding us, strengthening and guiding us to fulfill the great purpose He has planned for our lives.
God did not choose glittering gold, polished silver, or unyielding iron, but a broken clay vessel to accomplish His divine purpose. He calls the most broken, like David(O.T) and Pau(N.T), to do His work. While the world seeks perfection and wealth, God values our brokenness, for only broken bread can nourish the hungry. Embrace your imperfections, for God is using them to create something useful and meaningful.
This Lenten season, let us recognize our imperfections and discover God’s transformative power in our brokenness. As we surrender to His hands, may He reshape us for His glory. Trusting His plan, let us embrace our role as clay in His hands with courage, faith, and openness to His will.
As the hymn beautifully reminds us:
“All these pieces, broken and scattered,
In mercy gathered, mended and whole…
I’ve been set free, amazing grace…”
CLOSING PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come before You as clay in Your hands, trusting You, our Potter, to shape us with love and purpose. We find comfort in knowing we are safe in Your embrace and that Your plan is perfect, even when unseen. Help us surrender to Your will and trust Your timing. In our trials, we lean on Your strength and grace. Thank You for Your endless patience and mercy. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen..
