Be the Salt of the Earth (Manoj Thomas)

Mathew 5:13

During Lent, we reflect on our role as the “salt of the earth” and what it means t preserve, enhance, and bring Christ’s flavor to the world. Salt was valuable in ancient times, used for preservation and purification. Likewise, Jesus calls us to preserve his truth, show love, and stand firm i our faith. But just as salt can lose its taste and purity when spoiled, we, too, can grow weary, distracted, or compromised by worldly influences. Jesus warns that if salt loses its flavor, it becomes useless. This is a reminder that our faith is not meant to be passive. It requires intentionality – daily seeking Him, living with integrity, and sharing His love in a world that often resists it. Our actions, words, and attitudes should reflect Christ, making others thirst for His truth. Lent is a time of renewal – a season to purify ourselves again through prayer and fasting, thus drawing us closer to Christ. As we journey through Lent, let us ask: Are we preserving the gospel in our lives? Are we seasoning the world with grace and righteousness? If we have grown dull, let us turn back to Him, for He alone restores and renews.

Closing Prayer

Dear Jesus Lord, You have called us to be the salt of the earth, yet we confess that we often fail t preserve Your truth and reflect Your love. During this season of Lent, purify our hearts, strengthen our faith, and restore our purpose. Help us to be a source of light and hope to those around us. living as true disciples of You. May we never lose our saltiness but remain faithful to You. Guide us to be bold in our witness and steadfast in our love. In Jesus’ name, Amen
