Condolences
- Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. V.S. Philip, grandfather of our member Natasha Elza Simon on 02/27/2025 in India. Funeral service was held today, March 2nd.May our Almighty Lord grant the families strength and comfort them with His peace
Prayer Fellowship
- Prayer Group 1 will have a prayer meeting next Sunday 3/9/2025 at 5PM at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Varghese and Achamma Thomas, Address: 36940 Everett Dr, Westland, MI 48185. We request that all prayer group members attend this prayer fellowship.
Great Lent “Sandhya Namaskaram” Prayer
- Our Great Lent Sandhya Namskaram prayer is going to start from tomorrow. It will be from 7- 8PM via Zoom. Requesting every one to prayerfully attend the prayer meetings. Zoom details are included with the weekly announcements. We have already shared the special lectionary and bible reading portions for the entire season through email this week. If you are interested in sharing the word of God, or participate in daily bible readings, please contact your prayer group leader for signup.
Sunday School
- The Annual Diocesan Exam is scheduled for Sunday May 11th at noon. Students from 5th to 10th grade are encouraged to register with their teachers and submit an $8 fee before Sunday, March 2nd
- Sunday School Talent Show will be held on Sunday April 6th after the service. We encourage all students to participate and give their names to their respective teachers. Please contact the convenors Mrs. Tanya Thomas or Mrs. Sarah Laby for any questions.
Youth Group
- There is open volley ball Saturday March 08th at 2 pm at the church. All youths are encouraged to attend.
- Midwest Regional Youth Fellowship-MTC United meeting on Tuesday, March 4, @9:30 Est via Zoom.
- Youth group is selling DMTC themed merchandise. If anyone is interested in buying, please order it using the QR code which is placed in the notice board or talk to the youth group members.
Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Monthly meeting is scheduled on March 8th Via Zoom. All members are requested to attend.
- DMTC Yuvajana Sakhyam is planning to send out daily lent reflections from our members to share and spread God’s word within our community and beyond. Encouraging interested church family and organizations to participate and sign up. For signup please reach out to Anjana or Manju Thomas
Sevika Sanghom
- World Day of Prayer will be held on Sunday, March 9th, at 9:30 am. This worship service will be led by our Sevika Sanghom members. We invite all church members to participate in this special service. The worship order for this year was prepared by an ecumenical group of Christian women from the Cook Islands and focuses on the theme: “I Made You Wonderful” based on Psalm 139:14. The offertory collected during World day of Prayer services is distributed to projects helping deserving communities in the Cook Islands as well as women and children in need around the world. Let us unite in prayer, lifting up the needs of others and seeking God’s grace and blessings for all people across the world. Your support and prayers are requested.
- During the season of great lent Sevika Sanghom is once again hosting morning devotionals to inspire and strengthen us at the foot of the cross. This year’s theme is “Confession and Conversion in Christ”. Those interested in sharing a brief 2-3 minute devotional are invited to send their recordings to the Annie Varghese. These devotionals will be shared with members each morning throughout the Lenten season.
Leadership Retreat
- Executive Committee has decided to conduct the Leadership retreat for our church on March 22nd from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Diocesan Secretary Rev. George Abraham will be leading the retreat. We are inviting all executive committee members, all sub-organizations office bearers and its committee members to be part of this leadership retreat. We are planning breakout sessions and other activities to enable each of you to become effective leaders in our church and improve our church life. Please pray and try to attend this event. Kindly let the church secretary know the number of people who are attending from your organization so that we can make the arrangements.
Diocesan Sunday
- Per the diocesan circular, our parish share is 3200 dollars. If you havent participated in todays collection, please make sure you contribute so that we will not have any arrears with the diocese.
Young Family Fellowship
- The Diocesan Young Families Fellowship (YFF) of our Diocese is a ministry aimed at nurturing and empowering young families in our Diocese, especially in their spiritual life as individuals and as families. Furthermore, the goal is to strengthen their witness and involvement in the life, ministry, and mission of the church. Many of the parishes in the Diocese have YFF units which are active. Registration of parish level YFF with the Diocesan YFF is necessary to effectively plan and organize the ministry and to enhance communication and participation at the parish level.
Efforts are being made to start a Young Families Fellowship in our parish. Per Diocesan guideline YFF is targeted for, but not limited to, families with spouses up to 55yrs of age that were born and/or raised outside of India and have active membership in the parish. If you have any questions or are interested to join please contact Mr. John Mathews – Tiffy. (Ph. No. 734-679-9778). We ask all members to keep the Young Families Fellowship in your prayers as we initiate this ministry in our parish.
Maintenance Update
- Thanks to Trustees and Maintenance Committee, we have installed a new diaper changing station in the men’s wash room and also replaced the one in the women’s bathroom. We hope this will be a great help for the young families in our parish.
- We are getting rid of the heavy wooden tables in the parish hall. If anybody is interested in picking up one, please welcome to do so. Please let the Trustees or secretary know if you need any help.
Refreshments
- Thanks to refreshment committee for arranging the refreshments today. Thanks to the volunteers for helping with arrangements.

- DMTC Family wishes all our fellow members celebrating their Birthday and Wedding Anniversary this upcoming week. May the Almighty Lord bless each one of you and your family in the New Year and the years ahead.

Note about Security – Email/Phone Contacts from the church
- As we are all aware there are many security threats to our personal information in the modern age and unfortunately many ill-intended people try to access this information through underhanded methods. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts: Vicar: vicar@detroitmarthoma.org or 248-792-1134 (Mobile) Secretary: sec@detroitmarthoma.org Trustees: trustees@detroitmarthoma.org. The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will NEVER ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members. If you have any further questions please contact the church office bearers.
Live Streaming of Church Events
Live streaming will be available on the church YouTube channel – https://youtube.com/@DetroitMarthomaChurch. After clicking the link, click on “Live” and find the livestream for the respective church event.
We will do our very best to live stream all church events, however as this is dependent on trained volunteers, there may be technical interruptions and occasions where live streaming is not available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Zeffy – Online Payment Option
- Zeffy is a user-friendly platform for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option. Contributions can be made with credit card, bank account, Apple or Google pay. We strongly encourage all members to utilize Zeffy for electronic payments. Our Trustees want to thank all the members who have utilized this method as this streamlines the financial activities of the parish.
