General Body Notice
- A General Body Meeting of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church will be held today, February 16, 2025 in the sanctuary after the Holy Communion Service presided by the President and Vicar, Rev. Santhosh Varughese. All General Body members are requested to be present.

2024 Annual Report Books are available in the fellowship hall today. Each parish member family is requested to pick up a copy of the book.
2025 Executive Committee Dedication Service
- There will be a dedication service for incoming executive committee members and auditors next Sunday, February 23rd, during the Holy Communion service. Requesting all 2025 executive committee members and auditors to participate in the service.
Prayer Fellowship
- Prayer Group 4 will be having a prayer meeting on Sunday February 23rd at 5 pm at the residence of Dr. Bachu Abraham and family in Northville, MI. (17290 Stonebrook Dr Northville, MI 48168). All Prayer group 4 members are requested to attend.
Great Lent “Sandhya Namaskaram”
- The Great Lent “Sandhya Namaskaram” evening prayers will start on Monday, March 3rd and will be held on the weekdays, Monday through Friday, at 7 pm via Zoom. Those who are interested in delivering a devotional message during the Sandhya Namaskaram evening prayers are requested to contact Mr. Thomson David or respective prayer group leaders. In this Lenten season let us prepare ourselves and spend time in prayer and meditating on the Word of God.
Sunday School
- The Annual Diocesan Exam is scheduled for Sunday May 11th at noon. Students from 5th to 10th grade are encouraged to register with their teachers and submit an $8 fee before Sunday, March 2nd
- Sunday School Talent Show will be held on Sunday April 6th after the service. We encourage all students to participate and give their names to their respective teachers. Please contact the convenors Mrs. Tanya Thomas or Mrs. Sarah Laby for any questions.
- There will be an Informational session for parents, grandparents, and family members of SS students next Sunday February 23rd after the service. During the session SS updates will be shared along with the opportunity for family members to ask questions and provide feedback regarding SS. All are welcome and we especially request and expect the presence of all family members of current SS students. For additional information please contact SS superintendent Dr. Suma Thomas.
Youth Group
- The Midwest Regional Youth Fellowship is excited to announce a new initiative called “MTC United”—a bi-monthly Zoom call designed to engage our youth and provide our leaders with a platform to expand our fellowship throughout the Midwest region. Our first session will take place on Tuesday, February 18th at 9:30 PM EST. Each session will be strictly capped at 30 minutes to respect everyone’s time. This inaugural semester will be titled “Wake Up Dreamer.” All youths are prayerfully requested to participate in this initiative and all church members are invited to join the call. - There will be Youth Group Bible Study – Saturday March 1st at 1 pm at the church. All youths are encouraged to attend.
Audio/Video General Support
- As we plan for various church events/activities in 2025 a note to all sub-organizations, prayer groups and parish members when planning an event at the church that requires audio or video assistance keep in mind we have an A/V team that can support as you prepare and conduct the event. If such a need arises we request that you contact the parish Secretary or any of the A/V core team members: Alan John, Sandeep George, Justin Abraham, Sherin Kuruvilla and/or Sujeev Cherian. The team can then assess the need and make arrangements to support as necessary. We recommend this communication to prevent damage to the AV equipment and avoid any hindrances to AV arrangements for regular church services/activities. Thank you ahead of time for your cooperation

As many of you may or may not know we maintain an online photo directory of parish families. Many photos in the directory are outdated and we invite and encourage all families to provide a more recent photo to be included in the directory. If families have a new photo please e-mail it to the secretary at sec@detroitmarthoma.org. We thank everyone for their support. Note about Security – Email/Phone Contacts from the church
- As we are all aware there are many security threats to our personal information in the modern age and unfortunately many ill-intended people try to access this information through underhanded methods. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts:

The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will NEVER ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members. If you have any further questions please contact the church office bearers.

- Zeffy is a user-friendly platform for not-for-profit organizations that allows for one-time and reoccurring monthly contributions with a no transaction fee option.
