Condolences
- Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. V.O. Ninan (87), grandfather of our member Mr. Sandeep George on Sunday, November 13th in Kerala. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral Church in Mavelikkara. May our Almighty Lord grant the family strength and comfort them with His peace.

- The General Body Meeting of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church will be held on Sunday, November 20th, 2022 in the sanctuary after the Holy Communion Service presided by the President and Vicar, Rev. Varghese Thomas. All General Body members are requested to attend this meeting.The agenda is as follows:

Prayer Fellowship
- Prayer Group 3 will have a prayer meeting today, November 13th at 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Philip & Mini Varghese in Troy, MI. 391 Tanner Drive Troy, MI 48085. Election of Prayer Group 3 representative for the year 2023 will be held during the meeting. All prayer group members are requested to attend.
Sunday School
- Sunday School Christmas Carol Program practices will continue today Sunday, November 13th after service. There will also be 2 practice sessions next weekend:
- Saturday, November 19th at 10 am at the church
- Sunday, November 20th after service in the Parish Hall
We encourage all Sunday School students to come and participate!
- Sunday School Teachers meeting will be held on Sunday November 20th at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Election of office bearers for 2023 will be conducted during this meeting. All teachers are requested to attend.
Yuvajana Sakhyam
- Next edition of the “Yuvadhara” – will be released on February 13th, 2023. The theme for this edition is “Mission Centered Life”. Creative content, such as poetry, story, essay, cartoon and articles with Christian values and related to the theme are welcome. Compliments are requested from Yuvajana Sakhyam families and businesses to meet the financial needs of this publication; compliments start from $100 to $250. Compliments and content must be emailed by November 30, 2022 to yuvadharanews@gmail.com.
Sevika Sanghom
- Monthly Meeting of the Sevika Sanghom will be held today, Sunday, November 13th, after the service. Election of office bearers for the year 2023 will be held during the meeting. All Sevika Sanghom members are requested to attend
Edavaka Mission
- Next meeting of the Edavaka Mission will be held on Saturday, November 19th, at 5:30 pm. Election of office bearers for the year 2023 will be held during the meeting
Youth Group
- Youth Group bible study this Saturday, November 19th, at 1:30 pm at the church.
- Youth Group General Body will be held on Sunday, November 27th, 2022, after the worship service.
The agenda is as follows:

All youths are requested to attend.
- Youth Group Potluck will be held on Friday November 25th, more information to be provided in the youth group email
- The 2022 Midwest Regional Youth Conference will be held from Monday December 26th to Thursday, December 29th at the Michindoh Conference Center, Hillsdale, MI. This year’s theme is Quo Vadis: Where are you going? based on Acts 26:16. Rev. Larry Varghese will be the main speaker for the conference. Early registration deadline is December 4th. All youths 14 years and older are requested to attend.
- The 2023 Diocesan leadership conference will be held from January 5-8, 2023 hosted by the Sehion MTC in Plano, Texas. This year’s theme is “Reaching up, Reaching out” based on Matthew 25:40. Youth members age 21 to 35 are welcome to attend. Deadline to register is this Tuesday, November 15th! Link to registration application is included in the youth group email.
Choir
- Choir General Body will be held on Sunday, December 4th, 2022, after the worship service.

- Election of Office Bearers for the year 2023
- AOB with permission of Chair
All English and Malayalam Choir members are requested to attend prayerfully.
Christmas Carol Rounding
- This year’s Christmas Carol Rounding is scheduled for 2 weekends, Dec. 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th. The carol rounding group is planning to visit all parish families. Those families who prefer the Carol Rounding group NOT to visit their homes are requested to inform their area prayer group leaders by TODAY so that proper arrangements can be made.
- Also there will be a Christmas Carol Rounding song practice today after refreshments. All interested carolers are requested to attend.
Church Fall Cleaning
- On behalf of the executive committee let me kindly thank all church members who participated in the church fall cleaning last Sunday. With your help we were able to clear a majority of the leaves in our landscape area and also get a head start on the pending work remaining for the parking lot islands. Thank you once again.
Note on PayPal Contributions
- On July 29th, 2022, PayPal updated its policies and now charges a fee for contributions to the church PayPal account submitted from a personal PayPal account. Members may still contribute through PayPal without being charged a fee using the PayPal Giving Fund of Detroit Mar Thoma Church. A link to the PayPal Giving fund is posted on the church website and will be sent in the weekly announcements.

- Please note that when using the PayPal Giving Fund, members cannot designate the category of their contribution therefore once completing a transaction through PayPal Giving Fund, members must provide details to trustees so that contributions may be accounted properly.
- Also please note this policy update only impacts contributions through PayPal. Contributions through Venmo are not affected currently. Thank you once again to all members for your wholehearted financial support for the smooth functioning of the parish.
