  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mrs. Molamma Mathew (61), mother of our member Mrs. Blessy Mathew, in Kottarakara, Kerala on Saturday, October 8th. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 12th, 2022. May our Almighty Lord grant the family strength and comfort them with His peace

Prayer Fellowship


  • Prayer Group 3 will have a prayer meeting on Saturday, October 22nd at 6:30pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Samji Koshy in Troy, MI. 4951 Chadbury Ct., Troy MI 48085. All prayer group members are requested to attend.

Diocesan Reception of Metropolitan


  • The Diocese of North America & Europe is arranging a Public Reception to felicitate the Most Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan today, October 9th, 2022 at 4:30 PM at the Long Island Mar Thoma Church (Merrick, New York). Live-streaming of this public meeting will be made available. Prayerful participation of all parish members is greatly appreciated.

Sunday School


  • Sunday School Teacher’s Meeting will be held today – Sunday, October 9th at 5 pm via Zoom. Requesting all teachers to attend this meeting.
  • Sunday School Christmas Carol Program practices will start next weekend with 2 sessions: Saturday, October 15th at 10 am at the church and Sunday, October 16th after the service at the church. We encourage all Sunday School students to come and participate!

Edavaka Mission


  • Monthly meeting of the Edavaka Mission will be held this Saturday October 15th at 6:00 PM via Zoom.

Yuvajana Sakhyam


  • Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Diocese of North America and Europe is organizing an Essay competition on the topic “യുവജനങ്ങൾ വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ പിന്തുടർച്ചക്കാർ (Youths inheritors of faith)”. The competition will be in both Malayalam and English. The first prize will be a 150-dollar cash prize each in Malayalam and English. The second prize will be a 100-dollar cash prize each in Malayalam and English as well.  Please submit your essays to marthomayuvajanasakhyamnae@gmail.com by October 16th, 2022 at 9 pm EST. Requesting participation from all Sakha members’.

Essay competition criteria are as follows:

  1. Participants must be registered MTYS members of our Diocese.
  2. Essay should be legible and be based on Christian values.
  3. Essay should not be more than 500 words.
  4. The decision of the Diocesan YS council will be final.
  • Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam Diocese of North America and Europe is organizing a Liturgical Musical Fest on Sunday, October 23rd, at 8 pm. The theme for the event “Kolo d Shmayo: Voice of Heaven”. Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa will inaugurate the musical fest. The event will be shown live on ABBA News and live streaming through DSMC. All parish members are welcome to join.

  • Mr & Mrs. John and Tessy Mathews were blessed with a baby boy Judah Samuel Mathews on Oct 3rd, 2022. Baby Judah and mother are doing well.
  • Mr & Mrs. Stanley and Blessy Samuel were blessed with a baby girl, Michaela Molly Samuel, on Oct 4th, 2022. Baby Michaela and mother are doing well.

Note on PayPal Contributions


  • On July 29th, 2022, PayPal updated its policies and now charges a fee for contributions to the church PayPal account submitted from a personal PayPal account. Members may still contribute through PayPal without being charged a fee using the PayPal Giving Fund of Detroit Mar Thoma Church. A link to the PayPal Giving fund is posted on the church website and will be sent in the weekly announcements.

  • Please note that when using the PayPal Giving Fund, members cannot designate the category of their contribution therefore once completing a transaction through PayPal Giving Fund, members must provide details to trustees so that contributions may be accounted properly.
  • Also please note this policy update only impacts contributions through PayPal. Contributions through Venmo are not affected currently. Thank you once again to all members for your wholehearted financial support for the smooth functioning of the parish.
