General Body Notice

  • The General Body Meeting of the Detroit Mar Thoma Church will be held on Sunday, November 10th, 2019 in the church sanctuary after the Holy Communion Service presided by the President and Vicar, Rev. Varghese Thomas. All General Body members are requested to attend this meeting.

    The agenda is as follows:

    1. Review status for starting the construction of new Madhbaha and Parking lot.
    2. Foundation stone laying ceremony.
    3. Vicar & Family’s health insurance policy

Worship Services

  • Next Sunday: November 17th
    • Holy Qurbana service in Malayalam at 10:15 am
    • Sunday School at 9 AM
    • Adult Bible Study at 9:30 AM

Weekly Prayers

  • Intercessory Prayer on Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Church.
  • Fasting prayer on Friday at 10:30 am at the Church.

Prayer Fellowship

  • Prayer Group 7 will have a prayer meeting on November 10th Sunday at 5:30 PM at the residence of Mr.  Jacob & Annie (Shirley) Thomas in Roseville. Prayer group leader for the year 2020 will be elected at this meeting. Address: 25729 Salem, Roseville.
  • Prayer group 5 will have a prayer meeting on November 17th, Sunday at 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. K.C. Chacko & Aleyamma Chacko in Sterling Heights. Prayer group leader for the year 2020 will be elected at this meeting. Address: 2846 Burningbush Dr., Sterling Heights

Sunday School

  • Christmas Carol Service practice will be held today after the service on the stage. All Sunday school children are requested to attend the practice. There will be practices every Sunday after the service.

Youth Group

  • Friday Prayer on November 15th at 7 pm and Bible Study on November 16th, Saturday at 1:30pm at the church
  • Community Service Event: Our Youth group is planning to work with Lighthouse in Southfield location at their Emergency Shelter by setting up dinner in their kitchen and serving the meals to the shelter residents and other homeless people in the area on November 22nd from 5pm to 9pm. If you can’t make it for the setting up you can always join for the serving starting at 7pm. You must be 12 years or older to participate. If you are interested, please contact Subin Thomas.
  • Regional Youth Conference 2019: Midwest Regional Youth Conference-2019 hosted by the Chicago Marthoma Church Youth Group will be held from December 26th, Thursday to December 29th, Sunday at the Michindoh Conference Center. The main speaker is Rev. Jonathan Saunders from the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Midtown Detroit and the theme for the conference is “Lost & Found: To Seek, Serve and Save” based on Ephesians 2:12-13. The registration cost is $140 and additional $10 for T-shirts. Early registration for the Midwest Regional Youth Conference ends on December 1st. Please keep the conference preparation, leaders, and delegates in your prayers.
  • Diocesan Leadership Conference 2020 (DLC 2020) in Atlanta, GA: The 23rd session of the Diocesan Leadership Conference will be held from January 2nd, Thursday to January 5th, Sunday 2020 at the Carmel Mar Thoma center hosted by Atlanta Mar Thoma Church. Youths ages 21-35 are eligible to attend this conference and the registration is limited to the first 100 delegates who meet the prescribed registration requirements. The registration fee will be $100 and registration deadline is December 1st, 2019.

Choir

  • Choir General Body meeting will be held on November 17th, Sunday after the worship service at the church. Office bearers for the year 2020 will be elected at this meeting.

Sevika Sanghom

  • Sevika Sangham General Body meeting will be held on November 17th, Sunday after the worship service at the church. Office bearers for the year 2020 will be elected at this meeting.
  • Sevika sangham community service event: Sevika sangham is planning a community service event at Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park Michigan on November 16th, Saturday. If you are interested to participate, Please give the names to Suja George.
  • Sevika Sanghom – Midwest Region – Prayer Line: Intercessory prayer on November 14th, Thursday 9pm. Rev. Dr. M. J. Edavaka Mission

  • Edavaka Mission monthly meeting will be held on November 16th, Saturday at 5:30pm at the Church.

Senior Fellowship

  • Senior Fellowship meeting will be held on November 23rd, Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Church. Election of the office bearers for the year 2020 will be held at this meeting.

Yuvajana Sakhyam

  • Yuvajana Sakhyam membership Registration for the year 2020 is starting today and all Yuvajana Sakhyam members and interested members are requested to register. Membership Registration fee will be $5.

Edavakasangam list

  • Edavakasangam list is published on the notice board. Please review the list and if there are any corrections, please inform the Vicar on or before November 15th, 2019

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

  • Foundation Stone laying ceremony planned for November 12th, Tuesday has been postponed. Southfield city building department needs more time to review and issue the construction permit. We will announce the new date later.

Prayer groups and Church organizations

  • All prayer groups and church organizations are requested to elect their representatives to the executive committee on or before November 24th.

Carol Rounding

  • Christmas carol rounding-2019 will be held from December 1st to December 15th. More details will be announced next Sunday.
  • Christmas carol rounding practice will be held on November 17th, Sunday after the worship service in the fellowship hall.

Refreshments

  • Thanks to our refreshment committee for arranging today’s refreshments – Idli and Sambar.
