This season calls us to relinquish certain comforts, particularly in our diet, as a means of deepening our faith and commitment. In light of this, we would like to highlight the significant evangelistic work being carried out in India by the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association. Their efforts in spreading the message of hope and love are truly commendable and deserving of our support. I kindly request that the money saved from our Lenten sacrifices, especially from abstaining from certain foods, be set aside and contributed to the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association. This small act of generosity can aid their mission and extend our collective impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Mission Field Request<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>A request for support for the Mar Thoma Mission Center Vattavada is posted on the Notice Board. This request is forwarded to us through our Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulose. Mission field requires help with multiple aging and crumbling facilities of the mission field. Kindly requesting everyone to pray for the mission and support. Please contact Santosh Achan if you need any details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Great Lent &#8220;Sandhya Namaskaram&#8221; Prayer<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Our <strong>Great Lent Sandhya Namaskaram prayer<\/strong> continues this week. It will be from 7- 8PM via Zoom. Requesting every one to prayerfully attend the prayer meetings. Zoom details are included with the weekly announcements. We have already shared the special lectionary and bible reading portions for the entire season through email this week. If you are interested in sharing the word of God, or participate in daily bible readings, please contact your prayer group leader for signup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Media &amp; Technology Team<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Media &amp; Technology team is meeting today after the refreshments. All current media &amp; technology team and the new volunteers who have signed up for various teams are requested to attend<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Sevika Sanghom<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>monthly meeting<\/strong> of Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom is scheduled for Saturday, April 5th at 11 a.m. at the church. All members are requested to attend. As informed earlier, we will have a <strong>Bible Quiz<\/strong> on book of Esther.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Youth Group<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>As announced earlier, Youth Group X Senior Citizens Bible Study on April 12 at 11 am at church.<\/li>\n<li>MTC Regional United Meeting-Wake up Dreamer on Tuesday, April 1, at 9:30pm via Zoom.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bible Study<\/strong> on April 5th at 1 pm at church<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Sunday School<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday School Talent Show<\/strong> will be held on Sunday April 6<sup>th<\/sup> after the service. Requesting all Senior Fellowship and Youth Group members to prayerfully attend this meeting. Please let the youth group know if you need any help with the transportation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Executive Committee Updates<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Church Executive committee is studying few local volunteering options for a long term partnership with our church. In the past,\u00a0 different organizations have done events at local charities, but to have lasting impact we are looking for a long term partner for the church to tie up with. If anyone from church has ideas please inform\u00a0 Youth secretary Ms. Debbie George<\/li>\n<li>The electrical oven in our parish hall kitchen has been replaced with a new gas oven. Thanks to the Trustees for making all the arrangements.<\/li>\n<li>Church Maintenance team has been making lot of fixes in Parsonage lately. Thanks to Mr. Ajit Varghese for doing all of that work and Convenor for coordinating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Funeral &amp; Visitation Details for Rev. V. T. John&#8217;s Kochamma<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Mrs. Kunjamma John, wife of Rev. K.\u00a0 T. John, passed away on March 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, in Chicago. Her viewing will be held on Saturday, April 5<sup>th<\/sup> from 5 PM to 9:15 PM at the Chicago Mar Thoma Church. Her mortal remains will be taken to India for buriel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"background-color: #eae7e7;\">Refreshments<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Thanks to the refreshment committee for arranging todays refreshments.<\/li>\n<li>Note from the refreshment team:\n<ul>\n<li>Refreshments will be served for 30 minutes only and the cleanup will start after. Requesting every one to join the fellowship time as soon as we finish the benediction.<\/li>\n<li>They are also requesting those who haven&#8217;t contributed to the annual refreshment fund to do so soon. One of the common methods used are communication mediums such as e-mail or phone. We ask members to please take precaution when reviewing and responding to text messages and e-mails they receive including text messages\/e-mails from church representatives. In regards to church emails our vicar (Santhosh Achen), secretary and trustees have specific church e-mail accounts: <strong>Vicar:<\/strong> vicar@detroitmarthoma.org or 248-792-1134 (Mobile) <strong>Secretary:<\/strong> sec@detroitmarthoma.org <strong>Trustees:<\/strong> trustees@detroitmarthoma.org. The Vicar, Secretary, and Trustees have their own personal e-mail which they rarely use to communicate parish related matters. If any member is suspicious or uncomfortable with a text message or email they have received from a church representative we ask that you do not respond and instead contact the church representative by phone or in -person. Also please note the Vicar or office bearers will <strong>NEVER<\/strong> ask for any personal information (ex. bank account or credit card number) or request for purchases to be made on their behalf via text message or email. We have recently been made aware of a scam e-mail that was sent out using the name of a church representative and therefore we are recommending appropriate precautions by parish members.
