  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mrs. Annamma Varghese (86) , mother of our member Mrs. Ejie Mathew, on Saturday July 6th in Thiruvalla.  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 10, 2024

Church Picnic


  • Our Church Picnic will be held on Saturday July 13th at 10 am at Raintree Park in Troy, MI (3775 John R. Rd, Troy, MI 48083). Food, games and activities are planned for all ages. Please inform your respective area prayer group leader of your attendance by today if you haven’t already so that proper arrangements can be made.

Mar Thoma Fest


  • Those interested to participate in the cultural program dances on Saturday August 17th are requested to sign-up using the online link: https://forms.gle/9Gn2u6A3zmXUzYwr6. Deadline to sign-up is July 13th.Individuals interested in choreographing are requested to contact Mar Thoma Fest Convenor, Ms. Evangeline John (Anju).
  • The following sports tournaments have been scheduled for Mar Thoma Fest
    • Table Tennis – Sunday, August 4th after service
    • Women’s Doubles Pickleball – Monday, August 12th
    • Men’s Doubles Pickleball – Tuesday, August 13th

Sunday School


  • Memory verse recital – All SS students are requested to complete their memory verse recital with their respective teacher on or before Sunday, July 14th. SS teachers will send out further information to students within their classes.
  • Update regarding Midwest Regional Junior Camp. Due to lower than anticipated registered participants, Midwest Regional Junior Camp is CANCELLED this year. The Midwest Regional committee apologizes for any inconveniences this may have caused.

Choir


  • 28th Marthoma Choir Festival: St. Mathews Mar Thoma Church, Toronto is very pleased to host the 28th Mar Thoma Choir Festival on Saturday, July 27th 2024 at 4:00 pm EST. The program will be held at the church. St. Mathews MTC is extending an invitation to our parish, all members our welcome to participate.

Youth Group

  • The 45th Diocesan Youth Fellowship Conference will be hosted by St. Mathews Mar Thoma Church of Toronto. The conference will take place from August 1st – 4th, 2024, at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Theme for the conference is “Living Last” based on Matthew 22:37-39 and main speakers for the conference are Dr. Mary Philip, Rev. Larry Varghese, and Mr. Tom Philip. Conference is open to all Mar Thoma Youths, ages 18-35. Sevika Sanghom


  • There will be a Midwest Regional Sevika Sanghom prayer meeting on Thursday July 11th, at 8:30 pm EST via Zoom. Rev. Varughese John, Vicar of MTC of St. Louis will deliver the message.   • The Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom of NA is planning to have a Liturgical Song Fest during the Sevika Sanghom Varom.  DMTC Sevika Sanghom, representing the Midwest Region, will do a video recording of a Passion Week Hosanna song “Masshiaa ye kanmaa” next Sunday Jul 14, 2024 , immediately after the service. Requesting all Sevika Sangham members to participate in the singing and to wear Peach and or Lavender colors.

Yuvajana Sakhyam


  • Yuvajana Sakhyam is planning a Volunteering event at Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park, MI on July 27th from 9am to 12pm. This event involves packing of emergency food box and re-packing and sorting fresh food that will be distributed through Wayne, Macomb and Oakland County to those in need. The event is open for a set of 25 people. Forgotten Harvest: 15000 W. 8 Mile Rd Oakpark, MI 48237. Registration link will be sent separately by Yuvajana Sakhyam coordinators.   • The 22nd Diocesan Yuvajana Sakhyam Conference will be hosted by The Mar Thoma Church of Dallas Farmers Branch Yuvajana Sakhyam. The conference will take place from September 26th to 29th, 2024, at The Mar Thoma Church of Dallas Farmers Branch. More information about the conference, including registration details, can be found on the conference website: https://www.ysconf2024.org. Encouraging all Sakha members and senior yuvajana sakhyam friends to register for the conference at the earliest. Registration deadline is August 31, 2024. Request everyone to uphold the conference in your prayers for its success and spiritual enrichment.

Edavaka Mission


  • Edavaka Mission is supporting multiple charity causes and is requesting financial support from members. The following are the charity causes:
    • Udumalpet Mission: School Kits (Target – /$1000)
    • Punalur Boys Home (Target – /$800)
    • Marriage aid for family in Chettikulangara, Alapuzha, Kerala. Target – /$1,220)

    All contributions should be made to the Detroit Mar Thoma Church with details of the desired charity. Thank you in advance for your support.

  • Parish Events for 2024 have been scheduled. The following are the event highlights for this summer and fall.

    • Mar Thoma Fest – Sat. August 17th
    • First Fruit Auction – Sun. September 1st
    • Church Convention – Fri. September 27th to Sun. September 29thWe request all parish members to mark these dates on your calendar and request everyone’s sincere participation

Refreshments


  • Thanks to the refreshment committee for arranging today’s refreshments.
  • As per our General Body decision the minimum expected contribution from each parish family is increased to \$100. All families are requested to contribute this amount and also encouraged to give more considering the increased cost of items. Thank you for your cooperation.
