Condolences

  • Detroit Mar Thoma Church expresses our deepest condolence at the sad demise of Mr. Joshua D. Puthuparambil, 81 years, father of our members Mrs. Suja George & Mrs. Jeena Alexander on Thursday, January 23rd 3:30 AM (IST) in Elanthur, Pathanamthitta, Kerala. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30th, 2020 at the Salem Mar Thoma Church, Elanthur. May the Almighty Lord strengthen and comfort the family with peace that passeth all human understanding. Let’s all please stand for a moment of silence and prayer.

Worship Services

  • Next Sunday: February 2nd – Mayaltho-Presentation of our Lord in the Temple (Medical Mission Sunday)
    • Holy Qurbana service in Malayalam at 10:15 am
    • Sunday School at 9 AM
    • Adult Bible Study at 9:30 AM

Weekly Prayers

  • Intercessory prayer on Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Church
  • Fasting prayer on Friday at 10:30 am at the Church.

Prayer Fellowships

  • Prayer group 3 will have a prayer meeting on January 26th, Sunday 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. Jeji Mathew and Bahitha Uthup in Troy.

Yuvajana Sakhyam

  • Yuvajana Sakhyam General Body meeting will be held on January 26th, Sunday after worship service. Election of Regional representative and Sakha committee members for the year 2020 will be held in this meeting.
  • Yuvajana Sakhyam Annual General body meeting will be held on Feb 8th, Saturday 5 pm at the church. All Yuvajana Sakhyam members are requested to attend this meeting. Annual report and audited accounts for the year 2019.

Diocesan Directory

  • The new Diocesan Directory will be released on July 3rd, 2020. Those who ordered the copies please pay $10.00 ASAP. Church members are requested to check and verify their address information to be published in the Diocesan Directory 2020. For more information please contact Mr. C. V. Samuel at 586-216-0602.

DMTC Project

  • Those who haven’t pledged your contribution yet, please give that to the vicar or trustees as soon as possible. If you are interested to give personal loans, please contact project convener Mr. Vinod Thomas. Please keep our expansion project in your prayers.

Refreshments

  • Thanks to our Refreshment Committee for arranging today’s refreshments- Donuts

Special guest: Honorable Congress woman Brenda Lawrence

  • Honorable Congress woman Brenda Lawrence is visiting us today. She is the member of the United States House of Representatives. She lives in Southfield and was active in many areas that affected public life and worked on improving the life of Southfield residents. She served as Council woman and City Council President for Southfield and also served as the Mayor of Southfield from 2001 to 2015. She was also the Democratic nominee for Oakland County Executive in 2008 and for lieutenant governor in 2010; She was elected U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 14th congressional district in 2014. The district covers most of eastern Detroit, including downtown, and stretches west to take in portions of Oakland County, including our church. She has been a friend of our church and visited us earlier also. We are very happy to welcome Honorable Brenda Lawrence to Detroit Mar Thoma church.
